본 연구는 원예치료 프로그램이 생활시설수용 정신지체 장애인의 사회화와 위축에 미치는 영향에 대해서 알아보고자 하였다. 원예치료프로그램은 2009년 8월2일부터 2009년 12월27일까지 주1회 총 22회 실시하였다. 적응행동 평가 전체결과 사회화(p<0.01)와 위축(p<0.05)에서 유의한 차이를 보였다. 감정표현 평가 결과 유의한 차는 보이지 않았지만 평균은 향상되었다. 원예치료 프로그램은 성취감과 대상자간의 교류를 촉진하여 사회성과 위축에 긍정적인 변화를 가져다 준 것으로 판단된다.

This study was done to investigate the effect of horticultural therapy program on socialization and withering of the institutionalized mentally retarded. The horticultural therapy programs were conducted once a week total 22 times from Aug. 2, 2009 through Dec. 27, 2009. There were significant differences in socialization(p<0.01) and withering(p<0.05) according to the result of adaptive behavior. There was no significant difference in emotional expression but mean was improved. It was thought that the horticultural therapy program made positive changes on socialization and withering through the sense of achievement and the interchanges among subjects.
