조선시대 관인의 생활은 격무에 시달리는 스트레스의 연속이었다. 관인들은 바쁜 일상에서 벗어나고자 하는 탈속의지를 항상 표출하였다. 모든 것을 털어버리고 귀거래하지 못하는 처지를 하소연하기도 했고, 여가에 가까운 산수를 찾아 잠시나마 탈속의 기분을 즐기며 돌아왔다.
관인들이 탈속을 즐기기 위해 가장 많이 선호한 공간은 산수였고, 유람을 통해서였다. 연속적인 스트레스에 골몰했던 관인들은 산수벽을 관념처럼 지니고 살았다. 번다한 일상에서 벗어나 자연에 귀의하여 자적하는 安分의 삶을 이상으로 여겼다. 관인들의 산수유람 열망은 매우 컸다. 잠시라도 기회가 생기면 산수를 유람하며 탈속의 기분을 즐겼고, 그 기분을 잊지 못하여 또 다시 유람하고자 하는 유람벽으로 이어졌다.
관인들의 유람벽을 더욱 깊게 만들었던 산 중의 하나는 신선세계로 유명했던 지리산이었다. 관인들이 탈속의 기분을 즐기기에 지리산만한 곳도 없었다. 그러나 공무에 바쁜 관인들에게 지리산은 쉽게 유람할 수 있는 산이 아니었다. 그러므로 지리산과 접해있는 군현의 수령으로 부임하거나 공무 차 지날 기회에 짧게나마 유람하고, 평생의 숙원처럼 여기며 갈망했던 지리산 유람의 積翠를 풀었다. 하지만 지리산은 몇 일만에 모두 볼 수 있는 곳이 아니었다. 관인들의 지리산 유람은 늘 아쉬운 소회로 남았고, 언젠가 또 찾아야겠다는 유람벽을 다시 불러일으켰다.

The life of government officers was busy for heavy work load. Government officials often expressed their unworldliness in order to escape their routine life. Government officers complained the situation of not homecoming after their resignation from a government office and they came back after enjoying the unworldliness.
Their favorite place was landscape to travel. Government officers who was immersed in stress had landscape habit as their idea. Thus they regarded the life of living in easy retirement as ideal. Government officers had a desire of landscape travel. Given chance to enjoy it, they traveled to landscape. Then it was connected as a travel habit
One of making travel habit was Jirisan which was famous of immortal worlds. There is no place as enjoyable as Jirisan which enjoyed unworldliness. However, it was hard for government officers who was busy for government affairs to travel the mountain. Thus they started for their new post in the countries and prefectures and got a chance to travel around it. Finally they can achieve the dream of traveling the Jirisan. However there is no time for them to look around in a day. Government officers had their cherished intentions and had travel habit which looked for the mountain.
