본 연구에서는 유아교육 분야에서 이루어지고 있는 다문화교육 관련연구의 경향을 파악하고 앞으로의 다문화교육 연구를 발전시키는데 필요한 몇 가지 논의점들을 제시하고자 한다. 국내의 유아교육분야의 대표적인 학술지인 「유아교육연구」에 2000년부터 2010년 까지 게재된 다문화교육 관련연구를 분석대상으로 삼았다. 다문화교육 관련연구는 총 10편이었다. 유아교육 분야에서 다문화교육 관련연구는 2006년 이후 크게 증가하였으며, 다문화교육 관련연구의 대상은 결혼이민자가정 및 자녀가 다수였다. 연구방법은 양적 연구보다 질적 연구가 많았으며 연구주제는 일반유아를 대상으로 한 다문화이해교육보다 다문화가정 및 유아와 관련한 연구가 다수를 차지하였다. 연구주제는 구체적으로 다문화가정 유아의 유아교육기관 적응, 다문화교육에서 교사의 경험, 다문화교육의 실제, 다문화교육의 환경 및 정책에 관한 연구의 네 영역으로 구분할 수 있었다. 분석결과, 유아교육에서 다문화교육은 관심영역으로 자리잡아가고 있으며 연구관점, 연구주제, 연구방법이 다양해지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 분석을 통하여 다문화교육 연구과 관련한 몇 가지 논의점들을 제시하였는데 다문화교육의 관점에 대한 숙고, 다문화교육의 범위를 설정하는 문제, 다름에 대한 태도 등에 대한 계속적인 논의가 필요하다.

The purpose of this study is to identify recent research trend in the area of multicultural education in early childhood education and suggest some issues which develop multicultural education research. For the purpose of this study, research papers about multicultural education are selected from the journal, Early Childhood Education Research, published from 2000 to 2010.
The 10 papers are founded and analyzed. The findings are as follows. First, research papers about multicultural education have been increased after 2006. Second, majority of research is used qualitative research method, Third, majority of research subject is related to multicultural family and child. Fourth, research subject is divided 4 sub-subjects, adaptation of multicultural family'children to kidergarten or day care center, teacher experience in multicultural education, multicultural educational practice and environment and policy about multicultural education.
According to results, the perspective, research subject and method of multicultural education in early childhood education have been diversifed. For the development of multicultural education research, realm of multicultural education, perspective of multicultural education, attitude toword differences will be reexamined and taken issue.
