제주국제공항의 이용객이 증가함에 따라 공항이라는 특수한 공간에서 이용자들의 정보소통 편의를 위한 공공사인의 역할은 매우 중요한 성격을 갖는다. 불특정 다수가 이용하는 공항은 모든 사람들이 불편 없는 환경을 제공해야 한다. 이러한 환경에 대한 요구를 충족시킬 수 있는 유니버설 디자인의 관점으로 제주국제공항의 공공사인시스템 개선가능성에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 유니버설 디자인의 적용은 누구나 사용가능한 사인환경이 가능하도록 실현해주며, 국내외 국제공항의 사례를 통해 이용자들에게 편의를 도모하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 현장조사와 분석을 통해 문제점을 찾고 유니버설 디자인 개념에서 접근하여 제주국제공항의 공공사인시스템은 위험요소를 줄이고, 보행자의 안전을 위한 동선을 확보해야하며, 시각적 직관성을 높여야 한다는 방향을 제시하였다. 유니버설 디자인은 다양한 요구를 수용할 수 있는 개념으로 적극적으로 적용되어야 할 것이다.

Jeju International Airport, increasing the airport's passengers in a special space for the convenience of users communicating information, the role of public signs have very important personalities. An unspecified number of airports used by all people must provide an environment free of discomfort. For these environments to meet the requirements of universal design in terms of Jeju International Airport, about pubilc sign system is necessary to study the possibility of improvement. The application of universal design can be anyone available to sign the environment gives the realization year, through the experiences of domestic and international airport for the convenience to users and could see that. This study challenges through field research and analysis looking at the concept of universal design approach of the Jeju International Airport, public sign systems reduce risk, and for the safety of pedestrian circulation should guarantee the direction of enhancing the visual intuition suggests was Universal design concepts that can accommodate the diverse needs should be actively applied.
