해외 수출용 비모란 선인장 ‘Isaek’ 품종이 2012년 국립원예특작과학원에서 육성되었다. 황적색 계통 ‘line21’을 모본으로, 분홍색의 ‘Yeonhwa’ 품종이 부본으로 하여2008년에 교배되었다. 수확된 종자는 활성탄이 첨가된Kyoto 배지의 100mL 삼각플라스크에 파종하였으며, 발아된 유묘를 기내에서 접목하여 시험관에서 6개월 동안재배하였다. 포장에서 4회에 걸쳐 접목을 다시 하여 재배하였으며, 2010년부터 2012년까지 총 3회에 걸쳐 생육특성을 조사하였다. ‘Isaek’ 품종은 편원형의 모양과 적황색의 구색을 가지고 있다. 그리고 모구에는 8~10개,평균 9.0개의 능과 회갈색의 직립형 짧은 가시가 있다.능에 있는 혹(tubercle)은 돌출된 모양을 가지고 있다. 정식 10개월 후 ‘Isaek’ 품종의 구직경은 40.7mm로 대조품종 ‘Honjo’에 비해 작은 편이었다. 자구는 모구와 같은 황적색으로 10개월 동안 평균 10.5개가 생성되었다.2014년 2월 14일에 ‘Isaek’ 품종은 종자원에 등록되었으며 종자산업법에 의해 품종보호를 받게 되었다.

A cultivar of bicolor moon cactus(Gymnocalycium mihanovichii), ‘Isaek’ with red and yellowcolors, was bred for exporting abroad by National Instituteof Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 2012. Forbreeding new cultivar with a unique bicolor, ‘line21’, abicolor line with red & yellow colors, and ‘Yeonhwa’, acultivar with pink color, were crossed in 2008. After 2months, seeds were harvested and then sterilized withC2H5OH 70% and NaOCl 2%, then germinated in 100mLmass flask filled with Kyoto medium with Charcoal.Germinated seedlings were grafted onto Hylocereustrigonus in vitro, and then were grown for 6 months in testtube. After grafting four times in vivo for multiplying, growthcharacteristics of seedlings were surveyed three times from2010 to 2012, according to guidelines for the conduct oftests for distinctness, uniformity and stability ofGymnocalycium mihanovichii. ‘Isaek’ had round oblateform and red and yellow skin colors (R 45B+Y 9A).‘Isaek’ had 9.0 (8~10) ribs on average, which was similarto the number of ribs of ‘Honjo’. In addition, the spine onthe body of ‘Isaek’ had gray & brown colors which wasdifferent from the spine color of ‘Honjo’. The spine grew tolength of 4.3mm on average in a straight shape, andtubercles on the rib had protruding shape. The diameter of‘Isaek’ was 40.3mm at 10 months from planting, whichwas smaller compared with that of ‘Honjo’ cultivar. Onaverage, ‘Isaek’ produced 10.5 offsets with two colors at10 months from planting. The preference score of ‘Isaek’ was 3.8 on a five-point scale. On February 27th 2014,‘Isaek’ was registered (registration No. 4822) and iscurrently protected by Korean Seed Industry Law.
