본고에서는 조선조 문인들의 지리산에 대한 인식과 그 변화를 고찰하였다. 조 선시대 유산시는 대체로 몇 가지 투식이 있었던 것으로 보이는데, 그것을 대별 하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지리산을 삶의 터전으로 인식하여, 그 중요성을 부각시 키는 것. 둘째, 지리산에 대한 敬畏心을 담아내는 것. 셋째, 지리산에서 浩然之 氣를 기르고 발산하는 모습을 표현하는 것. 넷째, 지리산을 仙界나 理想鄕의 소 재처로 보아 憧憬하는 태도를 드러내는 것. 다섯째, 지리산과 연관이 있는 인물 을 연상하면서 尙友千古의 자세를 보이는 것. 여섯째, 지리산 등산을 修己, 또는 학문 연마의 비유로 삼는 것. 유산시에 나타난 이런 투식은 곧 지리산에 대한 인식의 유형을 의미하며, 이것은 오랜 기간 큰 변화 없이 유지되었다. 하지만 조선 말기에 이르러서는 약간의 변화된 모습이 나타나기 시작하였다. 즉, 唐詩 風의 서정적인 작품이 등장하기도 하고, 보다 현실적인 사고를 담아내기도 하 였으며, 경우에 따라서는 자신의 自尊感을 여과 없이 드러내기도 하였다. 또 시 국 변화에 따라 國運을 염려하는 마음이 삽입되기도 하였다. 이것은 문인들의 사고가 근대화 되어가는 한 모습이라 할 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate recognition and its changes about Mt. Jiri of writers in the Joseon Dynasty. There seems to be several firm rules in mountain excursion poetry in the Joseon Dynasty. They are classified broadly as follows. First, with Mt. Jiri recognized as the ground of life, the poetry emphasizes the importance of Mt. Jiri. Second, it expresses the feeling of awe of Mt. Jiri. Third, the poetry illuminates that people develop their great spirits and release them. Fourth, it shows the attitude that they regard Mt. Jiri as the place to trace the genealogy of ancestors and the utopia, and then they show yearning for it. Fifth, it draws the manner about communion with old people, associating some figurers related to Mt. Jiri. Sixth, climbing Mt. Jiri is compared to cultivating people's morals and pursuing their study. These firm rules in mountain excursion poetry mean the types of recognition about Mt. Jiri and have been maintained without any big changes for a long time. The slight changed styles, however, started to turn up in the late Joseon Dynasty. That is, lyric poetry appeared with the poetical style of the Tang Dynasty and it revealed more realistic thought. According to the circumstances, the writers showed their self-esteem without hiding anything. Also, in accordance with changes in the state of political affairs, they added apprehension about the destiny of their country. Therefore, we can say this situation explains that the thoughts of writers become modern.
