본 연구는 최근 그 우수성이 많이 알려져 여러 분야에서 다 양하게 개발되고 상용화되고 있는 옻칠제품의 사례를 심층적으 로 분석하고, 기존에 인식하고 있던 옻칠에 대한 관점의 틀을 벗어나 옻칠제품에 대한 새로운 방향을 도출해 보고자 하는 연 구이다. 이를 위해, 옻칠의 특성을 화학적, 기능적, 미학적 특성으로 분류하여 기존에 발표되어진 문헌을 통해 조사하고 분석함으로 서 옻칠의 특성이 무엇인지를 고찰(考察)해 볼 것이다. 또한, 현재 상용화 되고 있는 옻칠제품은 여러 방면의 분야 에서 다양하게 제작되고 있지만, 다분히 심미적 요소를 부각시 킨 제품들이 대부분이다. 이에, 옻칠 본연의 기능적 특성을 활 용한 제품들의 사례를 문헌과 온라인 리서치를 통해 살펴보고 크게 목기제품, 전자제품, 인테리어제품으로 분류하여 각각의 제품이 지니고 있는 옻칠의 기능적 특성을 살펴보고자 한다.

This study is to analyze in depth the various examples of lacquer products which has been a lot of excellence being developed and commercialized in a number of areas. And, it is study to see come up with a new direction for the lacquer products by looking for outside of the framework in terms of the lacquer had been recognized in previous. For this purpose, it will be considered the chemical characteristics of the lacquer, functional and aesthetic characteristics are classified and review by analyzing published studies. In addition, the product commercially available is a variety of lacquer being made in the field of a number of ways. However, most products highlight the aesthetic elements only. Therefore, it will be looked at the examples of lacquer products utilizing the inherent functional properties through former studies and online researches and analyze the functional properties of lacquer largely classified into wooden products, electronic products and interior products.
