밀리터리 위장 패턴은 적으로부터 아군을 보호하기 위해 고안된 것으로 군복과 장비에 쓰인 일종의 보호색과 같은 특유의 패턴을 말한다. 세계대전 이후 밀리터리 룩은 때로는 저항적인 의지의 표현으로 때로는 개성을 추구하는 젊은이들의 감성표현으로 스트리트 패션과 캐주얼웨어에 적용되었으며, 창조적인 패션을 선도하는 유명디자이너의 작품에서 새로운 스타일로 창조되었다. 최근 밀리터리 스타일이 새로운 패션 트렌드로서 소비자들에게 주목을 받으면서 밀리터리 위장 패턴에 대한 관심도 동반 상승하며, 다양한 패션제품에 밀리터리 위장 패턴이 활용되어지고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 흐름에 부응하여 다양한 패턴디자인의 정보원으로서 패션에 영감을 제공하고 있는 밀리터리 위장 패턴디자인에 관한 유형파악에 목적을 둔다. 그러므로 연구는 밀리터리 위장 패턴에 관한 개념과 발생, 밀리터리 위장 패턴을 활용한 밀리터리 패션에 관하여 고찰하였으며, 군에서 사용된 위장 패턴과 밀리터리 위장패턴 디자인의 유형과 특징을 파악해 보았다. 아울러 본 연구를 통해 밀리터리 위장 패턴 활용 시, 패턴디자인에 대한 정보지식을 개괄적으로 쉽게 획득할 수 있다는 점에 의미를 두고자 한다.

Military camouflage pattern refers to a unique pattern used in military clothes and equipments. It was devised to protect friendly troops from enemy troops, just like the protective coloration. After the world war, military looks have been applied to street fashion and casual wear as a way for young people to express resistance or seek individuality. Renowned fashion designers who lead creative fashion have created new styles of military looks in their works. Recently, military styles have received attention from consumers as a newly-rising fashion trend, and people’s interest in military camouflage pattern is getting higher simultaneously. Military camouflage pattern is being used in various fashion products. Considering these trends, this research aims to have identify types about military camouflage pattern that inspires fashion as a source of various pattern design. The concept and origin of military camouflage pattern and military fashion that uses military camouflage pattern were investigated, and the types of camouflage pattern used in military and military camouflage pattern designs were researched. It is hoped that this study can easily provide informational knowledge about pattern designs when applying military camouflage pattern.
