본 논문은 팔레스타인 디아스포라 예술과 타자성에 대한 논의로, 세계사 속에서 팔레스타인의 문제를 생각해봄과 동시에 그 지역을 둘러싼 예술가들의 작업을 영토 분쟁과 국제 정치, 그리고 민 족 간의 대립과 함께 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 동시대 미술 속에서 팔레스타인 디아스포라에 대한 문 제를 한 번 더 생각해 봐야 하는 이유는 아직도 진행 중인 전쟁과 식민의 상황 속에서 많은 예술가 들이 중동 지역의 내부와 외부에서 서로 소통하고 연대하며 예술이라는 비폭력 저항의 매개를 통 해 고착된 정치권력과 배타적 제도에 균열을 내며 차별과 억압에 맞서고 있기 때문이다. 이들의 작 업은 많은 부분 정치적으로 표명되기도 하지만, 이는 단순히 이념을 표출하는 것이라기보다는 팔 레스타인의 현 상황에 맞서고자 하는 예술가들의 힘겨운 투쟁과도 같다. 따라서 본 논문이 역사에 서 소외되고 잊힌 팔레스타인의 상황과 디아스포라 예술가들의 작품을 해석하고 이해하는데 도움 이 되길 바란다.

This research explores the art of Palestine diaspora and the alterity, reviews the issues of Palestine in world history, and also examines the work of Palestinian diaspora artists, the issuing of territorial disputes, the international politics, and conflict between nations and people. It is important to consider Palestinian Diaspora art in the context of contemporary art because the artists use their art as a symbol of non-violent resistance, confronting the discrimination and oppression of a fixed political power and exclusive system. The work of Palestinian artists is often credited as political art, but this simplifies the ideas the artists try to express, those of the exhausting struggle to confront the power and oppression. Therefore, this research gives a critical insight of Palestinian diaspora art and it also helps to understand the marginalized and forgotten history of Palestine.
