This research aims to examine the dance movements made by the dancers while they were carrying out mujin and mutoe in the introduction and conclusion of Dangakjeongjae during the early Joseon period. To that end, a total of 14 kinds of Dangakjeongjae documented in Akhakguebeom were examined and compared. In the documents of dance movements made by dancers in the introduction and conclusion of Dangakjeongjae, the names of dance movements are specifically recorded and the progression of dance are explained. Different kinds of Jeongjae determine whether dance could be performed or not when mujin and mutoe are performed. As for this, two different ways of documenting the dance movements were identified. One is that dance movements are not documented because mujin and mutoe are not performed; the other is that dance movements are not documented even though mujin and mutoe are performed. All of the dance movements made during the introduction and conclusion of the 14 different kinds of Dangakjeongjae consist of‘yeomsu, yeomsujokdo, jeolhwamu, sasumu, palsumu, toesumu, and hyeopsumu’. In the introduction, jeolhwamu, yeomsu, and yeomsujokdo are performed for mujin; yeomsu, sasumu and palsu for mutoe. In the conclusion, yeomsujokdo and hyeopsumu are performed for mujin; sasumu and toesumu for mutoe. In the current form of jeongjae, all the dancers just dance with their arms spreading out to their sides when performing mujin and mutoe. This is because most of the dance movements made during the introduction and conclusion of court jeongjae, which is recorded in the documentations, are carried out in the form of mujin and mutoe. However, when Akhakguebeom is examined, the dance structure is different from that of the current one. Dances vary according to different jeongjae, and there are no particular dance forms for mujin and mutoe in the introduction and conclusion. The most noteworthy thing is that dance movements for mujin and mutoe are different between the introduction and conclusion.
