본 연구는 한국 기업의 중국 직접투자의 성과를 결정하는 요인을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 투자 성과 요인으로 크게 세 가지 요인, 즉 기술, 국제화 경험, 소유 지분 유형을 검토 하였다. 본 연구는 이를 위해 91개 기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 실증 분석 결과, 기술의 노동 집약도와 현지 적합 정도와 투자 기업의 국제화 경험이 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에, 소유 지분 유형은 투자 성과와 유의한 관계가 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나, 소유 지분 유형은 현지 매출 비중과 현지 조달 비율과 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 발견되었다.

This paper is designed to empirically examine what determines the performance of Korea`s foreign direct investment (FDI) in China. Three main determinants are hypothesized to influence the performance of Korea`s FDI. They include technology, internationalization experience, and ownership patterns associated with Korea`s investment in China. Data were collected from surveys with 91 Korean investors. Our empirical analysis suggests that the labor intensify of technology involved in FDI, the appropriateness of manufacturing technology to the local conditions, and the internationalization experiences of the Korean investors influence the investment performance. Our study also found that the level of local ownership did not have an impact on performance; but it was found to be associated with the degree of local sales and the percentage of locally sourced parts and materials.
