2013년 현재 대한민국의 교도소는 다인종. 다문화. 다양화된 교도소문화를 이루고 있으며, 이러한 다문화시대의 한국사회의 구성원 및 외국인 범죄의 증가는 질적인 측면에서 외국인범죄는 국내인 범죄 못지않은 사회문제가 되고 있다. 이제 한국은 순수단일민족이 아니며 여러 민족과 인종이 때로는 용광로처럼 한국의 문화에 동화되고 샐러드그릇처럼 민족고유의 특성을 유지하면서도 어울리는 다문화주의 사회이다. 인종적 문화적 다양성과 더불어 외국인범죄도 사회 환경 등의 이유로 급격히 상승하고 있는 실정이며 다문화 시대에 부합한 외국인수용자에 대한 문화적 수용성, 수용생활만족도, 의사소통만족도와 학력변인의 조절효과 등을 측정하여 외국인수용자의 다문화수용성이 수용생활만족도와 사회복귀기대감에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구로 외국인수용자에 대한 교정정책에 대한 문제제기와 연구가 필요하고, 내국인수용자와 마찬가지로 외국인수용자도 한국어의 능력수준에 따라 한국인수용자에게 실시하는 검정고시제도와 방송통신고등학교 및 방송통신대학프로그램도 실시하는 것이 필요하다고 본다.

Presently the prisons in Korea have multiracial and multicultural diverse prison cultures and there is increase in crimes of the members and foreigners in Korean society. In this multicultural era crimes of foreigners are a social issue not less than the crime of locals in the qualitative aspect. Now Korea is not a pure nation-state and several nations and races assimilate into the culture of Korea sometimes like blast furnace and Korea is multiculturalism society where they associate with each other while maintaining the characteristics peculiar to the nation like salad bowl. In addition to the ethnic cultural diversity, the crimes of foreigners are rapidly rising actually for the reason of social environment. As a study on the influence of multicultural adaptiveness of foreign prisoners on the level of satisfaction with inmate life and feeling of expectancy of returning to the society by measuring cultural adaptiveness, the level of satisfaction with inmate life, level of satisfaction with communication and adjusting effect of variable of academic ability of foreign prisoners corresponding to the multicultural era, the raising problems of and studies on correction policy for foreign prisoners are necessary. Like for the local prisoners, it is thought to be necessary to apply qualification exam system and the Air and Correspondence High School and the Korea National Open University programs operated for Korean prisoners to foreign prisoners according to the level of Korean language ability.
