Orff music program"s effect on juvenile prisoner"s emotional instability and self-esteem
This research's purpose is to find out an influence on juvenile delinquent's affective instability and self-esteem which is carried out by Orff music program targeting on juvenile delinquents. The 13 subjects of this study are chosen among the juvenile delinquents of K correctional institution for juveniles who participate in the 'Zero Camp' which is a young offender re-formation program. Result of this study is as in the following. Firstly, the difference of experiment group's scores between before and after Orff music program implementation which is to lower affective instability factor, as a result of T-test, was statistically meaningful(t=4.999, **p<.05). Also, there was meaningful difference at aggression, tension level and inferiority complex which are subcategories of affective instability(*p<.05). Secondly, the difference of experiment group's scores between before and after Orff music program implementation which is for self-esteem increase, as a result of T-test, was statistically meaningful (t=3.966, *p<.05). The result of this study proved that Orff music program can decrease the factor related with juvenile delinquents's affective instability including aggression, tension level and inferiority complex. And it has a positive effect on self-esteem increase. Therefore, even though it's difficult to generalize since the population is small in this research, this study shows that Orff music program can be an effective way of juvenile delinquents's affective expression.
