본 연구에서는 비행청소년들의 비행촉발요인을 실증적 조사 자료를 통해 구체적으로 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2011년 상반기에 전북지역 J시의 2개 경찰서와 충남지역 D광역시의 1개 경찰서에서 범죄심리사들에 의해 조사와 심리검사를 포함한 면담을 받은 비행청소년 102명에 관한 자료를 분석하였다. 이 들을 성별, 비행명별, 재범위험성별로 분류하고, 이들의 비행촉발요인을 가족구조, 가족기능, 학교생활, 가출경험, 비행전력 및 개인적 요인으로 나누어 각 요인의 하위 문항별로 체크된 선택지의 빈도와 백분율을 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 청소년비행에서 어떤 요인들이 다른 요인들에 비해 상대적으로 더 중요성이 있는 것으로 시사되는지를 알아보았다. 그 결과, 각 요인을 대표하는 하위특징으로 부모이혼, 별거 혹은 가출, 가정불화와 가족간 심리적 학대, 불량한 교우관계, 분노조절 곤란과 인생목표 부재 등이 중요 요인으로 시사되었다. 이러한 결과로 부터, 청소년 비행을 예방하거나 수정하기 위해 이러한 요인들의 취약성을 보완 해 줄 대책과 프로그램 개발의 필요성에 대해 논의하였다.

The purposes of this study were to investigate the delinquency-causing factors of juvenile delinquents by the empirical data. For this end, It was analyzed the data of 102 juvenile delinquents whose were interviewed and tested by criminal psychologists in 3 police stations in J city and D city. The data was categorized with sex, types of crime, risk of re-delinquency. And delinquency-causing factors were categorized and analyzed with family structure, family function, school life, run away from home, personal histories of delinquency, and individual factors. The results showed that divorce of parents, family discord, delinquent friends, difficulty of anger control, and absence of life goals are important factors, specifically. From these results, it was discussed the necessity to make and develop policies and programs to prevent or correct of juvenile delinquency.
