현재 범죄에 대하여 청소년범죄자에 대한 예방프로그램은 상당한 정도로 수립되어 있으나 고령범죄자에 대한 프로그램은 우리사회에서 전무하다고 볼 수 있다. 이는 우리 사회가 안고 가야 할 사회문제이며 이를 해결하기 위하여서는 이에 대한 정책적 배려와 프로그램의 개발과 취업기회 확대가 필요하다. 우 리사회는 전통적으로 수직적 질서의식이 강하므로 고령범죄자의 증가는 사회변동에 적잖은 영향을 미친다. 동시에 고령자는 그동안 사회를 위해 봉사해온 계층이라는 점에서 복지적 관점에서 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 고령수용자의 처우는 교화의 목적에 합당하고 그리고 개별적인 특성에 입각하여 다양화․개별화 된 처우를 종합적으로 고려하여 한다. 사실 고령인구의 증가는 사회적으로 보호 받지 못하는 약자의 증가를 의미하기도 한다. 한편 우리나라 노동시장의 현실을 볼 때 고령자는 대부분 안정된 직종에 종사하지 못하고 있다. 또한 과거 대가족 시대와 달리 정년 이후의 고령자들은 경제적· 정서적으로 의지 할 수 있는 자녀 또는 친족의 수가 적어 스스로 자신들의 생계를 꾸려나가야 하는 경우가 많다. 이는 결국 육체적· 정신적으로 고령자의 증가는 한정된 복지 혜택과 일자리를 놓고 벌어지는 경쟁의 심화로 풀이될 수 있다. 이상의 논의에서 복지혜택을 늘리는 것이 고령범죄자에 대한 대책이라 할 수 있다. 한편 처벌의 엄격성과 경찰력 증대 등이 대책일 수도 있다. 그러나 이와 같은 대책은 이미 유럽에서 효과가 미비함이 증명되어 왔다. 특히 처벌의 증가는 민주화· 자유화라는 큰 맥락에서 벗어나는 시대착오적 발상이라는 비판을 면하기 어려울 것이다. 고령자범죄의 증가는 고령인구의 증가에 비추어 당연한 결과이다. 그러나 사회가 고령화하면서 고령자 문제를 개인의 문제로 치부해버리는 것은 오류이다. 고령자에 대한 정서적 지원을 통해 노인들만이 가질 수 있는 소외감· 고립감 등의 정서적 문제를 해결하여야 하며, 고령범죄자에 대한 보다 과학적 경찰활동의 적용 및 강화, 교정기관에서 고령자에 대한 개별처우 및 시설개선 등 형사사법기관에서의 다양한 노력들도 동시에 수반되어야 할 것이다.

Korea has concentrated on The Treatments for Elderly Inmates. This study examines the effective treatments for the current elderly inmates.
I would like to recommend some effective ways. Especially this study will provide some additional considerations for the implementation of the policy for the rehabilitation of related for Elderly Inmates.
The aging society has brought an issue of the elderly inmates. Those population in correctional facilities has increased conspicuously for the last couple of decades and the trend will be sustained for the next decades.
The number of elderly inmates who are in prison or jail, or under probation or parole supervision, has increased dramatically in recent years.
The elderly inmates have several characteristics of weak physical condition during incarceration and low re-socialization ability after incarceration.
Since these characteristics of the old inmates are quite different from the other inmates, especially young inmates, it is recommended that the treatment programs for elderly inmates should be based on rehabilitation, differentiated, diverse and individualized treatments.
Most jails do not have resources to provide adequate services. Therefore, Corrections and Treatment for them should be developed in korea.
This study tries to find the importance of the correctional policies for the elderly inmates which relatively has little concerns.
