안계 마을은 인조반정 이후 남명학파가 급격히 쇠퇴하던 시기에 오히려 남명 사상을 심화, 발전시킨 마을이다. 안계의 남명학은 그 후로 진양 하씨 문중의 가학 형태로 전승되면서 근대에까지 이르게 되었다. 하홍도는 안계 마을 남명학의 시작이자 중심이었다. 남명 조식의 학문은 하항과 하수일을 거쳐 하홍도에 전수되었고, 하홍도는 소멸될 지경에 빠진 남명학파의 사상을 심도 있게 발전시켜 후학들에게 이어질 수 있도록 한 것이다. 이러한 사실은 하홍도가 남긴 『겸재집』을 통해 확인할 수 있다. 하홍도를 기리는 만사와 제문에서 많은 후학들이 이러한 측면을 인정하는 내용을 볼 수 있고, 그가 직접 쓴 글에서도 이러한 의미를 찾아낼 수 있는 내용이 많다. 특히 그는 인조반정을 인정하지 않으려는 저항의식을 가졌던 인물이었다는 사실을 알 수 있는데, 그의 문집에서 간혹 은미하게 이러한 사상이 드러난 대목을 찾아볼 수 있다. 이러한 사실이 바로 『겸재집』이 불태워지는 수난을 겪는 직접적인 원인이 아닐까 한다. 안계 마을의 남명학을 주도했던 최초의 인물인 하홍도는, 자신의학문과 사상에 대한 이처럼 강한 확신을 가지고 있었다. 안계 마을이 근대에 이르기까지 남명학이라는 학문과 사상을 유지할 수 있었던 것은 하홍도의 역할에 크게 힘입은 바가 크다고 본다.

Angye village is very peculiar place that developed and deepened the Nammyounghak after The Coup of Injo, the period of sudden collapse in the Nammyounghak. After that, the Nammyounghak of Angye handed down to the modern times through the home training of the Jin yang Ha’s family. Ha hong do was the origin and center of Nammyounghak in Angye. The wisdom of Nammyoung Jo sik handed down to Ha hong do through Ha hang and Ha soo il. and Ha hong do also handed down the Nammyounghak to the junior scholar. We can find out these facts through the 『Kyoumjae zip』 of Ha hong do. We can confirm this in so many funeral orations written by his friends and students. And also we can find out so many evidences from his own poems and letters. Especially we can catch the fact that he was the uncompromising opponent to The coup of Injo. It often reveals from his 『Kyoumjae zip』. I think these facts became the direct cause of The burning of 『Kyoumjae zip』 in 1779. Ha hong do, the first leader og Nammyoungham in the Angye, had kept firm belief on Nammyoung Jo sik and his wisdom. I think that because the Angye village had Ha hong do so they could keep the great wisdom until the modern times.
