이 연구는 금융교육 교사연수 및 금융교육의 현실과 지향에 대한 교사들의 의견을 조사하였다. 초등학교 219명, 중학교 180명, 고등학교 251명으로 총 650명의 교사들을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였으며, 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 금융교육 연수 경험이 있는 교사의 비율은 전체적으로 낮은 편이며, 금융교육 연수에서 금융 관련 정부 기관의 비중이 높았다. 금융교육 연수가 학교 수업에 도움이 된다는 응답 비율이 매우 높았다. 금융 연수가 학교 수업에 도움이 되는 가장 큰 이유는 풍부한 금육교육 관련 자료 제공이었으며, 수업에 도움이 되지 않는 이유로는 교과서 내용과 연계가 부족하다는 점이 가장 많이 지적되었다. 연수에서 희망하는 수업 내용은 일상생활에 필요한 금융지식이 가장 많았으며, 희망하는 수업 방식은 강의나 강연, 활동형 체험 방식이 비슷하게 선호되었다.
둘째, 교사들은 교육과정에서 금융교육 내용 비중이 미흡하다고 지적하였다. 교과서에 서술된 금융교육 내용이 충분하지 않다고 생각하고 있었다. 또한 돈의 가치와 돈 관리의 중요성을 학생들이 가장 배워야 할 내용이라고 응답하였다.
셋째, 교사들은 금융교육을 활발하게 실시하기 위해 필요한 정책으로 국가 교육과정에서 금융교육 강화, 금융교육 수업 의무화, 교사 연수에 금융교육 포함, 금융교육 관련 DB 구축 등을 시급하게 요청하고 있었다.
The purpose of this research was to explore how financial education teachers understood teacher training programs, and curriculum and policy on financial education. The data from this study were based on a survey of 650 teachers: 219 for elementary school, 180 for middle school, and 251 for high school. It was found that the percentage of teachers participated in teacher training was very low, and financial agencies were leading teacher training for financial education. Many teachers agreed that training programs were very helpful for their teaching because they included a range of teaching materials. They wanted training programs to cover a variety of financial knowledge for everyday life. They also wanted method of training to be lecture or activity based learning. Teachers pointed out that financial education contents were not enough in the National School Curriculum and textbooks. They also suggested that the value of money and financial management should be core contents for their students. Finally, they emphasized reinforcement of financial education in the National School Curriculum, financial education as a compulsory course, construction of financial education DB, and so forth.
