The Necessity of BCI-based Functional Game Development
The number of people aged 5 through 19 is 1,794,289 as of end of 2005, and 13.25% of them, 237,743, are supposed to be struggled against ADHD. Even some statistics claim about 50% of them have ADHD. The over-addiction to computer games and TV watching might be major causes of ADHD, which is said by some experts from various fields. This research is to study the necessity of BCI-based functional game development, which has positive effect on ADHD youngsters by improving the level of attention through BCI-based games. The necessity is categorized into social, cultural, technical, and economical areas and analyzed respectively. This research is hopefully expected to be the starting point helping ADHD youngsters, their parents, and families.
