The Proposal for Development of School Based Occupational Therapy and Role of Occupational Therapist in School for Students With Disability
◉ 서론 : 본 연구는 교육적 모델을 중심으로 한 학교 작업치료의 목적과 학교 작업치료사의 역할을 살펴보고 앞으로의 발전 방향에 대해 살펴보았다.
◉ 본론 : 학교에서의 작업치료는 장애 학생들이 특수교육을 통해 적합한 성과를 얻기 위해 지원하는 관련서비스이다. 궁극적인 목적은 학생들이 교육적 목적을 달성하도록 지원해주는 것이고 교실과 학교 상황 내에서 중재가 이뤄질 때 가장 최적의 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 학교 작업치료사는 개별화교육평가프로그램의 팀으로 참여해야 하고 목적 달성을 위해 교사와 협력하는 것이 중요하다. 또한, 학교 작업치료사는 교육적 모델을 충분히 이해한 상태에서 장애 학생을 위한 평가, 중재, 권고 등을 하여야 하고 관련 법에 대해서도 인지하여야 한다.
◉ 결론 : 학교 작업치료의 발전을 위해 작업치료사들이 학교상황에서의 치료 목적과 역할을 인식하는 것이 중요하며 학교 내에 작업치료사들이 근무할 수 있는 제도적 장치가 필요하며 이를 위해 현재 시행되고 있는 치료지원서비스에 대한 중간점검이 필요하다.
The Purpose of this study was to identify the Proposal for Development of School Based Occupational Therapy and Role of Occupational Therapist in School for Students with Disability.
According the Education of All Handicapped children Act of 1975(P.L. 94-142)in the United States, children with disabilities were received education in the public school. In 1990 the Act was re-titled, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), P.L. 101-476.
In the korea, The Special Education for Person with Disabilities Act of 2007 was mandated to provide special, or related, services as necessary for students with special need. Occupational Therapy is defined as a related service and occupational therapists in school system designed to enhance a student’s abilities to participate in the educational process.
OT evaluation in the school focuses on a student’s ability to participates in functional school activities and performance of specific school activities. The IEP is necessary for improvement of students and occupational therapist contributes to participate as a member of a student’s IEP team. So, The Occupational therapist in korea was participate in IEP team. The role of the school-based occupational therapists is to support the child’s effort within the academic environments and is to understand educational model. Working within the classroom benefits the therapists gains a through understanding of the classroom environment and behavioral and achievement expectations of its students.
We have to recognize the role of occupational therapist in school setting. It is necessary to create policy for the improvement of related service.
