본 연구의 목적은 청소년 시기에 교회를 떠난 탈(脫)교회 청년들이 교회 이탈과정 중 경험하는 심리적·영적갈등 경험을 구조화하여 이들의 갈등 경험 본질에 대한 이해를 돕고, 향후 이들 탈(脫)교회 청년들의 심리적, 신앙적 회복을 위한 관련 정책 수립의 기초를 마련할 뿐만 아니라 후속 연구의 기초자료를 제공하는 데에 있다. 연구 질문으로는 ‘청소년 시기에 탈(脫)교회한 청년들이 교회 이탈 후 경험하는 갈등 경험의 본질은 무엇인가?’이며, 이러한 연구 질문을 중심으로 질적 연구방법론 중 현상학적 연구방법론으로 연구를 진행하여 이들의 갈등경험의 양상을 분석하여 규명하였다. 이들의 교회이탈 경험 과정 중 심리적·영적 갈등 경험의 주요 요소를 구조화하여 도출한 결과, 이들의 갈등 경험의 과정은 ‘초기 영적 성숙의 시기’, ‘신앙적 갈등의 시기’, ‘교회 이탈의 시기’, ‘양가적 갈등의 시기’등 총 4개의 갈등 경험의 단계를 거치는 것으로 드러났다.

The purpose of this study is to structuralize psychological and spiritual conflicts that Separated church youths who seceded church in adolescence face in the process of leaving church to help understand the essence of their conflicting experience, lay the foundation for making related policies to support those Separated church youths for their psychological and religious recovery, and also provide foundational material for follow-up research. The question formulated for this study is ‘What is the essence of conflicting experience which youths who left church in adolescence experience after seceding church?’ Regarding this study question, this author employed the phenomenological methodology, one of the qualitative methodologies, for research and analyzed the aspects of their conflicting experience.
