본 논문은 한국사회의 다문화 논의에서 중심적인 위치를 차지하는 결혼이주여성의 문제들을 문제화한 것이 다. 바키의 문제재현 분석틀(What problems represented to be: WPR)을 활용하여 특정 시기의 다문화 정 책이 문제로 삼은 것이 무엇이며, 그 문제 재현의 전제와 효과가 무엇인지 고찰하였다. 결혼이주여성의 문 제는 위장 결혼문제, 인권침해문제, 가족해체와 통합의 문제 등으로 재현되어 왔으며, 이러한 문제의 재현 에 상응하여 결혼이주여성은 속물적 기회주의자, 매매혼의 피해자, 가족 형성 및 유지자로서 다루어졌다. 바키의 WPR을 적용하여 보면, 문제화 과정에서 침묵 되어 있던 부분들이 수면으로 드러난다. 결혼에 포함 되는 모험심과 로맨스와 헌신에 관한 이야기, 능동적인 생존자와 주체적인 시민으로 사는 삶에 대한 논의는 재현되지 않은 채로 남겨져 있다. 그들의 목소리와 경험이 간과된 채 통치되어 온 결혼이주여성들에 관한 재현들을 전치시키고, 아울러 경합적인 재현을 탐색할 것이 요청된다. 이러한 맥락에서 결혼이주여성의 주 체성 혹은 에이전시(agency)의 재현에 대한 주목이 필요하다.

This paper problematizes the problems of married immigrant women who have taken a central position in the discussion of multiculturalism in Korea. Using Bacchi 's WPR (What problems represented to be), I examined what the problem of the multicultural policy of a particular period was, and what the premise and effects of the problem representation were. The problems of married immigrant women had been represented as the followings: the problems of disguised marriage, human rights violation, and family disorganization and integration. As a result, in response to such representations, married immigrant women had been treated as vulgar opportunists, victims of bargained marriage, and the ones who form and maintain families. When Bacchi's WPR is applied, the parts that remained silent during the problematic processes come to the surface. However, their stories of adventures, romance and devotion involving their marriage, and the experiences of lives as active survivors and independent citizens remain unrepresented. It is required that the existing representations of married immigrant women who have been ruled with their voices and experiences overlooked should be replaced, and a competitive representation should be explored. In this context, more attention should be paid to the representation of the subjectivity or agency of a married immigrant woman.
