본 연구는 전 세계에서 주목받고 있는 오순절/은사주의 운동을 선교와 전도의 측면으로 깊이 있게 살펴보려고 한다. 그들의 괄목할만한 교회성장의 이유를 알아보기 위해서는 실천적인 측면 즉 선교와 전도에 있어서의 특징들을 살펴보아야 할 것이다. 오늘날 오순절주의가 급속도로 성장할 수 있었던 이유 중 하나는, 다양한 신학적인 정체성을 가진 그들의 한 가지 공통점: 그들이 언제나 선교와 전도를 가장 많이 강조했다는 것이다. 오순절주의자와 은사주의자들은 처음부터 강력한 그리스도 중심적(Christocentric) 메시지와 성령론(pneumatological)을 중심으로 선교와 전도 활동을 해왔다. 최초의 오순절주의자들은 세계 전역에서 ‘순복음(full gospel)’이 선포되는 것과 함께 나타날 마지막 때의 영혼 추수에 참여하기 위해 자신들에게 성령이 부어졌다고 믿었고 그 운동을 선교운동으로 발전시키며 전 세계로 나아갔다. 오순절 운동은 성령이 모든 선교와 전도 활동을 이끄는 원동력이며, 성령 세(침)례를 통해 그들에게 전 세계 다른 나라들의 언어가 주어졌다는 확신에 근거하고 있다고 믿는다. 이 논문은 특별히 선교학적 접근으로 오순절주의의 선교와 전도에 특징을 집중적으로 연구해봄으로써 그들의 성장 동력을 연구하고자 한다.

This research explores the Pentecostal and Charismatic movement by missiology and evangelism. If we want to find reasons for their remarkable church growth, we must research their characteristic of mission strategy and evangelism. In spite of their diversity, Pentecostals have a common factor. They always emphasize mission and evangelism. One of the reasons for the rapid growth of Pentecostalism is because it has always had a strong emphasis on mission and evangelism. From the beginning, Pentecostals and Charismatics have been involved in these activities, coming from a strong Christocentric message and pneumatological focus. Indeed, the first Pentecostals believed that the Spirit had been poured out on them in order to engage in the end-time harvest of souls that would accompany the preaching of the ‘full gospel’ throughout the world. Their efforts were grounded in the conviction that the Holy Spirit was the motivating power behind all such activities, and their Spirit baptism had given them different languages of the world.
