In this paper, I analyze the m odern ego through one of M ori O gai’s trilogies, “Fum izukai” and find out Ida’s fem ininity w hich is hidden through out “Fumizukai”. “Fumizukai” is a story about Ida w ho is about to go through an arranged m arriage w hich is totally against her w ill. C aptain Kobayashi w ho is from Japan, could find out the reality of G erm any through Ida and he relate this w ith Japan’s.
I tabulate Ida's fem ininity to contextualize her strong w ill to find the true ego of herself. Ida is a charm ing, healthy young w om an, w hich m eans the decision she had m ade to avoid the unw anted arranged m arriage w as so crucial to her because she had given up the chance of having a norm al life an ordinary fem ale could have.
