‘현대인’들의 라이프 사이클에 적합한 법회 의례는 어떠해야 하는가를 살펴보았는데, 대략 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 헌공(獻供)과 설법으로 이원화되어 있는 법회는 공양 의식의 보궐진언 이전에 청법게로 법사를 청하고 법문이 끝난 다음 하당(下堂)할 때 정근(精勤)을 하는 형식으로 일원화되어야 한다. 둘째, 법회에 범음(梵音)을 활용하여 현대법회에 전통의 범음으로 아름답게 장엄돼야 하고, 또 전후(前後) 의식의 맥락이 일치돼야 한다. 셋째, 공양을 올리는 재자(齋者)들이 직접 공양의 간절함을 전할 수 있도록 할 필요가 있다. 대신 아뢰는 것을 듣기만 하는 종교가 아니라, 부처님께 자신의 정성을 직접 고백하는 경건하고 숭고한 순간을 향유해야 한다. 넷째, 시제(時制)가 없는 한문을 주로 사용하는 과정에 간략히 행할 때의 의식과 광대하게 행해야 하는 의식이 서로 중복되기도 하는데, 지문(地文)에서 아뢰는 대로 그 행위가 갖춰져야 한다. 이렇게 현대 법회 의례가 구성되면 법회 의례는 숭고미와 지성미, 우아미 등이 갖춰져 참여자 누구나 이를 느낄 수 있게 되며, 일원화된 법회, 전통이 이어지고 대중이 참여하는 법회, 지문(地文)과 행위가 일치 된 법회가 완성될 수 있을 것이다.

This essay considers the rituals for Dharma meeting suitable for the life cycle of modern people, which is summed up as follows; Firstly, Dharma meeting split into hanging (獻供, offering) and Dharma talk should be combined so the Dharma teacher should be asked with Cheongbeobge (請法偈, the asking Dharma stanza) before the supplementary mantra (補闕眞言) in offering ceremony and Jeonggeun (精勤, fervent discipline) should proceed while he or she walks off the stage after their Dharma talk. Secondly, Beomeum(梵音, Brahma voice) should be utilized in the Dharma meeting. The traditional Beomeum should adorn magnificently the modern Dharma meeting and the beginning and ending contexts of the rituals should connect with each other. Thirdly, people who serve the offering should show their sincerity while offering. They should have the chance for noble and pious experience by devoting themselves to Buddha in a direct way. Fourthly, the directives in the ritual text should be performed literally, even though there’s a overlap between the brief ritual and the detailed one in Chinese characters with no tense. The modern Buddhist rituals with these systems would be sublime, intelligent and graceful, which every participant will notice. Then it will be unified and have a tradition, which the masses can take part in and the performance of the ritual matches up its text.
