본 논문은 사라 맥라클란의 보컬 플립 기법 활용 양상을 분석하여 컨츄리, 포크 음악에서 부터 유래된 플립 기법이 팝 음악에서 어떠한 양식으로 사용되었는지에 대해 연구하였다.보컬 플립 기법은 컨츄리, 포크, 블루스 싱어 송 라이터들로부터 유래된 보컬 테크닉이다. 특히, 포크 싱어 송 라이터들은 저항적 메시지를 담은 프로테스트 송을 주로 불렀으며, 1960년대와 1970년대 싱어 송 라이터들은 개인적이고 자신의 내면을 이야기를 담은 노래를 작곡하기 시작 했다. 도출된 분석 결과로는 운율의 형성과 감탄사 및 연결어미의 활용 멜로디 연장, 주제단어강조로 네가지 유형으로 분류 할 수 있었다. 플립 기법을 사용하는 가수를 사라 맥라클란으로 한정시켜 더 다양한 유형으로 분류 할 수 없는 한계를 가지고 있지만 이 연구를 통해 싱어 송 라이터들에게 효율적인 가사 전달을 위한 보컬 테크닉 연구로 이어질 기반을 제공할 수 있었다.

This paper analyzed Sarah McCallan 's use of vocal flip technique and investigated the style of flip technique derived from country and folk music in pop music. The vocal flip technique is a vocal technique derived from country, folk, and blues singer songwriters. In particular, the folk singer songwriters mainly called the pro test song with a resistance message. And in the 1960s and 1970s, singer-songwriters began to compose songs that contained personal and inner stories. As a result of the analysis, it was classified into four types of rhyme formation, melancholy extension and theme word emphasis using exclamation and connection mother. There is a limitation that can not be classified into more various types by limiting the flip technique to the singer McClaren. However, this study has provided a basis for singer-songwriters to lead vocal technique research for efficient housekeeping.
