본 연구에서는 수학과 인성교육의 국내 연구 동향을 파악하여, 창의인재육성을 강조하는 2009개 정 교육과정에 발맞추고, 2015년 인성교육진흥법이 제정되고 학교마다 매년 인성교육계획을 세워 실천해야 하는 현실에서, 수학교육을 통한 인성교육 연구에 도움을 주고자 한다. ‘인성교육’, ‘창의･ 인성교육’ 또는 ‘수학과 창의성교육’에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어지고, 이에 대한 연구 동향을 분석 한 논문도 있었던 것에 비해, ‘수학과 인성교육’은 연구가 많이 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 한국학 술진흥재단(한국연구재단)에 등재(후보)된 학회지 뿐만 아니라 학술대회 및 학위논문까지 포함하여 분석대상으로 삼았으며, 검색된 논문의 참고문헌을 정독하여 제목에 ‘인성’이라는 단어가 들어 가지 않았어도 논문의 내용이 인성교육과 관련되었다면 분석의 범위에 포함하였다. 이에 1998년부터 2019년까지 57편의 논문을 분석하였다. 연구연도, 연구대상, 연구주제, 연구방법, 용어에 따른 연구동향을 분석하였다. 그 결과 연구연도에서는 수학과 인성교육에 관련된 연구가 2011년 이후부 터 점차 이루어지고 있었으며, 연구대상의 측면에서는 기타(연구대상이 사람이 아닌 경우)가 40.5%로 가장 많았으며, 초등학생(17.5%), 중학생(15.8%)이 많았고, 고등학생(7%) 및 특히 영재학 생(3.5%)에 대한 연구가 부족했다. 연구주제별 동향에서는 수학과 인성교육의 교육방법(38.6%), 수학과 인성교육의 일반연구(29.8%), 교사와 관련한 연구(15.8%)에서 연구가 활발히 이루어졌다. 연구방법별 동향에서는 질적연구(52.8%)가 양적연구(11.3%)보다 많았으며, 혼합연구(35.8%)도 많이 이루어지고 있었다. 이는 인성교육의 특성상 양적연구만으로는 인성교육의 효과를 분석하기 어렵기 때문이라고 해석된다. 논문 제목에서 주로 사용된 용어는 ‘인성교육, 인성, 인성 함양, 인성요소, 창의･인성교육’였으며, 이외에도 인간교육, 수학적 인성, 민주시민의식함양 등이 사용되었다.

This study intends to identify domestic research trends in character education in mathematics in the midst of the reality that each school should establish and implement a character education plan every year after the enactment of the Character Education Promotion Act in 2015. While there are many studies regarding character education, creativity and character education, or creativity education in math. and analytical studies on research trends, studies on character education in teaching mathematics have been rare. The scope of analysis includes not only academic journals (nominated) but also academic conferences and academic dissertations. This study also covers the papers whose contents are related to character education, even if the word ‘character education’ is not included in the title. Thus, a total of 57 papers which were released from 1998 to 2019 were analyzed. Research trends were analyzed according to five categories: research year, subjects, research topic, research method, and terminology. This study found that research related to mathematics and character education has been on a gradual rise since 2011. As to the subjects, 40.5% were others (the case where the subjects of study are not people), 17.5% were elementary school students, and 15.8% were middle school students. However, there was a lack of research on high school students (7%) and especially gifted students (3.5%). In the area of trends of research subjects, research was actively conducted in the area of ‘methods of education in mathematics and character education’ (38.6%), followed by ‘general research in mathematics and character education’( 29.8%), and ‘research related to teachers’ (15.8%). In the area of trends of research methodology, qualitative research (52.8%) was higher than quantitative research (11.3%), and mixed-methods research (35.8%) was also significantly conducted. This is because it is difficult to analyze the effects of character education only through quantitative research due to the nature of character education. The terms commonly used in the title of the papers were “character education, character cultivation, character factors, creativity and character education”, and “human education, mathematical personality, and democratic citizenship development” were also used.
