A Strategy for Teaching and Learning Chinese Classics Literature through Travel Essays
In the results of examining the trend of Chinese classics literature classes currently being conducted in universities, it was found that the variety of works used for teaching and learning was somewhat insufficient. This is seen as a result of a realistic situation in which the number of classics classes in Chinese‐related departments is limited. However, it can be seen that to effectively convey classics that feel difficult and boring to learners, many researchers have made various attempts to reinterpret classics from a new perspective are being studied by breaking away from the traditional teaching method centered on reading in the past. This study attempts to explore the possibility of teaching and learning Chinese classics literature through a long travel essay that was not used in university classes until now, with reference to the existing research methodologies. First, among the many genres that can be said to be the essence of Chinese classics, the purpose of applying travel essays to teaching and learning will be revealed. The reason the author wants to apply the travel essay to the class is that it is not only for Chinese literature, but it is a text that can naturally connect and convey language, history, and cultural education as well. To the next, this study examines at the major works of Rushuji and Wuchuanlu that will be used in the lecture, and introduces various websites to be used during class. Lastly, a learning guidance strategy that fits the actual class situation is shown as an example so that it can be used directly in future lectures.
