본 연구의 목적은 초보 코치가 전문코치가 되는 과정에서 어떤 체험을 하는지 그 체험의 본질적 의미와 구조는 어떠한지를 현상학적 방법을 통해 밝히는 것이다. 이 연구를 위해 2019년 12월 코칭 경력 1년에서 4년 이하의 코치 5명을 대상으로 2시간의 개별 심층 인터뷰를 진행한 후 전사한 자료를 Colaizzi(1978)가 제안한 분석틀을 바탕으로 이남인(2019)의 방법에 따라 수정보완 하였다. 자료의 체계적 관리와 타당도 확보를 위해 질적자료분석(QDA) 소프트웨어 중 MAXQDA20 프로그램을 활용했다. 분석 절차는 전사 자료를 읽고 의미 단위를 추출한 후 주제별로 묶고 그 주제군을 다시 범주화했다. 전체 294개의 의미 단위 중 연구 목적에 맞는 의미 단위는 124개였다. 124개의 의미 단위를 26개의 주제로 분류한 후, 다시 11개의 주제군으로 나눈 후 5개의 범주로 도출해냈다. 5개의 범주는 ‘KPC 자격시험에 합격하면서 전문코치로 인식하게 됨’, ‘자기와 타인과 연결됨’, ‘관점과 삶의 정향(定向) 전환’, ‘코칭을 비즈니스화 하는 능력의 필요성 느낌’, ‘코치의 자신감과 성장은 정비례’이었다. 본 연구는 초보코치에서 전문코치로 성장하는 공통의 체험을 통해 성장의 본 질적 의미를 밝히고 체험의 구조를 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to reveal what beginner coaches experience in the process of becoming professional coaches and what the essential meanings and structures of those experiences are through phenomenological methods. For this study, 5 coaches with less than 1 to 4 years of coaching experiences were interviewed for 2 hours in-depth in December 2019. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed based on the analysis frame suggested by Colaizzi (1978), and supplemented according to the study of Lee(2019). From among the qualitative data analysis (QDA) software, the MAXQDA20 program was used to manage data systematically and to secure validity. The analysis procedures are as follows: read transcription data, extract semantic units, group them by subject, and categorize the subject group again. 294 semantic units were derived, of which 124 semantic units were suitable for the purpose of the study. After classifying 124 semantic units into 26 subjects, they were tied into 11 subject groups, and then derived into 5 categories. The five categories are 'Cognized as a professional coach by passing the KPC qualification exam', 'Connecting to oneself and others', 'Converting perspectives and the direction of life', 'Feeling the need for the ability to commercialize coaching', and 'confidence and growth in direct proportion'. This study is significant in that it reveals the essential meaning of growth and suggests the structure of the experience through a common experience of improving from a beginner coach to a professional coach.
