연중생산이 가능하고 특히, 저온에서 화색발현이 우수하며 볼륨감 있는 스프레이국화 신품종을 개발하기 위하여 충청남 도농업기술원 화훼연구소에서 2010년에 모본으로 황색의 홑꽃 ‘SP09-251-01’를 부본으로 ‘SP08-010-16’계통을 인공수분 하였다. 종자 파종은 2011년에 실시하였고, 실생개체 중 화색과 화형이 우수한 281번째 개체를 선발하여 ‘SP11-103-05’로 계통명을 부여하였다. 주년생산성 검정을 위하여 2011년부터 2013년까지 자연일장, 전조재배, 차광재배를 각각 실시하였고, ‘Yes Holic’과 화형, 화색, 초형이 비슷한 ‘Jazz’ 품종을 대조품 종으로 사용하였다. ‘Yes Holic’ 품종은 2013년에 국립종자원에 품종보호 출원을 하였다. ‘Yes Holic’은 황색(Yellow 7A)의 꽃잎과 녹색(Green 1B)의 화심색으로 조사되었고 자연일장 작형의 개화기는 10월 25일로 ‘Jazz’의 10월 26일에 비해 빨랐다. ‘Yes Holic’의 초장과 줄기굵기는 각각 80.2cm와 6.1mm 로 ‘Jazz’의 78.6cm와 5.3mm보다 컸다. ‘Yes Holic’의 꽃 직경은 4.4cm로 ‘Jazz’의 4.1cm보다 컸으며, 착화수도 ‘Yes Holic’ 가 29.4개로 ‘Jazz’의 22.1개보다 많았다. 흰녹병저항성은 ‘Yes Holic’이 10%이하의 발병율인 3단계로 흰녹병이 저항성이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 재배상 유의사항은 ‘Yes Holic’은 소등 후 야간온도를 18℃로 가온하면 고유화색 발현과 적당한 착화수 확보 및 균일한 개화가 가능하다. 그리고 여름철 고온기에는 ‘Yea Holic’의 총포에 잿빛곰팡이병이 주로 발생되므로 스크린과 포그를 활용하여 주간온도를 낮추고 봉오리 착색기에 전용 농약을 살포해 주어야 한다.

A spray chrysanthemum ‘Yes Holic’ was developed by the Flower Research Institute of Chungcheongnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, Korea. ‘Yes Holic’ can be produced all year-round, which is also stable for the summer discoloration. In 2010, the cross between ‘SP09-251-01’ and ‘SP08-010-16’ had been made, resulting in ‘SP11-103-05’ in the following year. We conducted adaptation trials from 2011 to 2013 on various characteristics, the floral qualities of the light, natural, and shade cultures, comparing with the cultivar ‘Jazz’ as a control. ‘Yesan SP-43’ was finally selected in 2013 and registered as ‘Yes Holic’ in the same year. The ray flowers of ‘Yes Holic’ is yellow, and the disk flowers were yellow-green. The natural flowering time of ‘Yes Holic’ was slightly earlier than ‘Jazz’ (October 25 vs. October 26). Its height and stem diameter are 80.2 cm and 6.1 mm, respectively, which is higher and thicker than ‘Jazz’ (78.6 cm and 5.3 mm, respectively). The flower size and number of petals increased to 4.4 cm with 42.4 petals each (4.1 cm with 22.1 petals in ‘Jazz’). ‘Yes Holic’ is thought to be resistant to white rust, showing a similar infection degree to ‘Jazz’ (infection degree, 3). However, the average temperature should be above 18℃ during winter to control the flowering, and the number of petals might be increased in daminozide treatment. Due to these many good attributes, the new chrysanthemum cultivar ‘Yes Holic’ is expected to draw much attention from the domestic chrysanthemum community.
