이순신은 종종 제갈량, 넬슨, 도고 등에 견주어 비교·평가되어 왔다. 이 글은 이순신과 제갈량의 생애·사상·업적을 고찰·분석하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 이순신과 제갈량의 생애와 사상, 이순신과 제갈량의 주요 전투·역량의 비교, 이순신과 제갈량의 업적의 역사적 함의를 살펴본 것이다. 이순신은 해전사적으로 승전기록에 있어서 타의 추종을 불허함은 물 론 문무를 겸전한 숭고한 인격의 소유자로서 조국에 대한 지극한 충성심과 탁월한 전장리더십을 발휘한 해군의 명장이다. 제갈량은 적벽대전 승리로 중국의 삼국시대를 정립했고 많은 고사성어의 주인공이기도 하며, 오늘날에도 중국인들로부터 존경을 받는 문무를 겸비한 촉한의 전략가이자 정치개혁가이다. 시대와 활동공간은 다르지만 두 사람 모두 난세의 영웅이었고 지금도 많은 세인들로부터 존경받고 있다. 불패의 전승기록과 구국영웅이라는 견지에서 본다면 이순신은 제갈량을 훨씬 능가하고 있다. 우리는 이순신이 가르쳐주는 선승구전에 의한 전승무패의 승리신 화와 리더십, 애국충정의 정신을 계승·발전시켜 나가야 할 것이다.

Yi Sun-sin has often been compared to Zhuge Liang, Horatio Nelson and Togo Heihachiro. This paper is to examine and analyze the lives, thoughts, and achievements of Yi Sun-sin and Zhuge Liang. To this end the paper is composed of 5 chapters titled introduction; the lives and thoughts of Yi Sun-sin and Zhuge Liang; a comparison of Yi Sunsin and Zhuge Liang's major battles and battle(combat) capabilities; the historical implications of the achievements of Yi Sun-sin and Zhuge Liang, and conclusion. Yi Sun-sin has a noble personality who also served as a civil servant, who is unrivaled in the naval victory record. He is also a famous general of the Navy who showed great loyalty to his country and excellent battlefield leadership. Zhuge Liang established China's Three Kingdoms era with the victory of the Red Cliff War and is also the protagonist of many ancient idioms. And he is a strategist and political reformer of the Shu Han Dynasty, who is still respected by the Chinese people today. Although the times and space of activity are different, both were heroes of the turbulent times and are still respected by many people. In terms of an undefeated war victory record and a hero who saved a nation in crisis, Yi Sun-shin is far superior to Zhuge Liang. We will have to inherit and develop the spirit of victory, leadership, and patriotism through the Seonseung-gujeon(先勝求戰) taught by Yi Sun-sin.
