이 논문은 예이츠 희곡이 내포하고 있는 메타연극적 장치를 논의한다. 혼비가 제시한 메타연극의 다섯 가지 유형을 기준으로 하여 예이츠 희곡 『삼월의 보 름달』을 분석함으로써 그의 희곡의 메타 연극성을 입증한다. 그럼으로써 이미 시극, 제의연극, 디에게시스 연극 등의 여러 명칭으로 불리고 있는 예이츠의 희곡이 메타연 극으로 분류될 수 있는 가능성을 제공하는데 그 목적을 둔다.

This essay discusses the meta-theatrical features in Yeats’s play A Full Moon in March. The play is analyzed on the basis of Hornby’s five possible varieties of conscious metadrama, so that Yeats’s meta-theatrical devices can clearly be demonstrated. As a result, this essay aims to offer a possibility of defining Yeats’s plays as metatheater.
