화가들은 현재 활동하면서 창작활동을 할 때 외부세계에 영 향을 받아 각기 다른 감정으로 받아들인다. 그리고 화가들은 자신이 느낀 감정을 개성 있는 형식을 통해서 작품으로 표현해 야 한다. 중국 현대화가 오관중은 자신만의 형식미와 의경미를 창조하여 동양과 서양, 일반대중과 미술비평가에게서 모두 인 정을 받은 화가이다. 그는 동양예술의 내재된 사상을 연구한 후 그것을 기초로 전통과 현대, 구상과 추상, 동양과 서양의 예 술 융합의 접점(接點)을 찾아내었다. 1970년대 이전 오관중의 회화는 전반적으로 서양화의 사실적 인 경향을 띄지만, 1978년 개방정책과 수묵화가 성숙함에 따라 수묵화 필묵의 정취를 서양화에 표현하는 새로운 변화를 시도 하여 생동감 넘치는 작품을 창작하였는데, 본고에서는 이러한 오관중 회화의 특성에 대하여 고찰한 것이다. 그의 작품은 전 통 동양화를 현대 조형미가 풍부한 현대적 회화로 변화시켰다 는데 의의가 있다.

Painters are embracing the world outside them into their own unique emotions inspired by such outer world when they are creating their works, which must be expressed in characteristic forms based on their own emotions of such. Wu Guan Jhong, a Chinese modern painter, has created his own beauty of form and beauty of inspired image, so that he has been appreciated all both in the East and West and both by the public and art critics. He researched the thoughts dwelling in the Eastern arts, based on which he has found the contact point for art convergence between the tradition and modern; between figure and abstract; and the East and West. His western painting works generally tended to be realistic till late 1970s. He expressed the taste and atmosphere of brush and ink of Chinese ink painting in his western painting works in 1978 with open-door policy introduced and Chinese ink painting matured. In this study, the features of such Wu Guan Jhong’s paintings are looked into. His works are meaningful in the point that he has changed the traditional Eastern paintings into the modern paintings with full of the modern beauty of form.
