최근 기후 변화와 생태환경이 중요한 문제로 급부상이 되면서 창조세계 보전에 대한 교회의 선교적 책임과 역할에 대해 학계와 교회의 주된 관심사가 되고 있다. 자연 환경의 파괴, 생태계의 무질서, 천연자원 의 고갈, 심각한 공해 등은 생태환경을 파괴하고 인간의 생명을 위협하 며 지구를 위기로 몰아가는 원인이 되고 있기 때문이다. 교회는 하나님 의 선교를 위해 세상에 보내진 하나님의 선교적 도구로서 그 역할은 창조세계의 회복과 하나님의 선교적 샬롬을 선포하는데 있다. 하나님께 서 세상을 창조하시고 “심히 보시기에 좋았던” 온전한 샬롬의 관계를 회복하는 일이다. 따라서 지구의 미래를 위해 선교적 교회는 다양한 단체들과 에큐메니칼 협력을 통해 창조 세계 보전과 생태계 회복을 위해 노력해야 한다.

Recently, as climate change and ecological issues have become urgent concerns, the academic and church communities are increasingly interested in the missionary responsibility and role of the church in preserving the created world. Destruction of the natural environment, disorder of ecosystems, depletion of natural resources, and serious pollution are causing ecological destruction, threatening human life, and putting the earth in danger. The role of the church, as a missionary tool sent into the world for God’s mission, is to proclaim the restoration of the created world and God’s missionary shalom. This involves restoring the perfect shalom relationship that God created and saw to be good. Therefore, for the future of the earth, the missionary church must work through various organizations and ecumenical cooperation to preserve the created world and restore the ecosystem
