이 서평의 대상은 조선시대 한국 한자음을 다룬 난정 남광우 선생의 󰡔조선(이 조) 한자음 연구󰡕이다. 이 책은 총 6장으로 구성되어 있으며, 다양한 방법론을 활용하여 한국 한자음을 다루었다. 이 책의 가장 큰 특징은 현재 일반화된 성운학의 분석 틀에 의 지하지 않았다는 점에 있다. 이로 인해 책의 구성이나 설명 방법 등이 다른 한자음 연구 와는 차별화된 모습을 보인다. 한국 한자음 연구의 초창기에 나온 이 책은 한자음 연구사 에 있어서 중요한 의미를 가진다.

This book review examines Gwang-u NAM’s noteworthy publication, A Study on Sino-Korean Pronunciation in Joseon (Yi Dynasty). Comprised of six comprehensive chapters, the book employs a diverse range of methodologies to investigate this subject matter. The main feature of this book is that it does not rely on the analytical framework of currently generalized historical Chinese phonology (HCP). This makes the book different from other studies of Sino-Korean pronunciation with regard to its organization and explanation. This study assumes pivotal historical significance within the realm of Sino-Korean pronunciation research, given its early emergence in the field.
