본 연구의 목적은 윤종빈 감독이 연출한 영화 <수리남>을 통해서 종교적 기 능의 상실과 사회적 종교 걱정의 시대에 대한 논의를 수행하는 것이다. 영화에 서 감독은 종교적 기능과 가치가 상실되고 마약과 종교가 긴밀하게 연계되는 상황을 묘사하고 있다. 영화에서 마약은 숭배의 대상으로서 물질주의적 현대사 회의 단면을 극단적으로 제시해주고 있다. 영화에서 마약 밀매업자로서 종교 지 도자로 등장하는 인물은 현대 종교 지도자들의 범죄, 마약, 탐욕, 그리고 물질 집착 등의 모습을 구체적으로 제시하면서 독자들의 공감을 확보하고 있다. 과거 사회적 질서와 안정을 위해서 종교가 작동했던 것과 달리 현대사회 일부 종교 지도자는 주도적으로 범죄나 물질적 탐욕에 관여되고 있다. 이러한 잘못된 종교 지도자들의 위선은 사회가 종교를 걱정하는 시대에 직면하는 토대를 형성하고 있다. 종교의 타락은 절망적 환경이나 다양한 사회적 문제를 초래할 수 있기 때 문이다. 현대 종교는 기능 상실에 대한 절박한 위기의식을 인식하고 종교의 본 질적 가치 회복을 위한 노력이 수반되어야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the era of loss of religious function and social religious anxiety through the movie Narco-Saints directed by Yoon, Jong-bin. In the movie, the director depicts a situation where religious functions and values are lost and drugs and religion are closely linked. In the film, drugs are presented as objects of worship, presenting an extreme cross-section of the materialistic modern society. The character, as a religious leader who is a drug trafficker in the movie, secures the sympathy of readers by specifically presenting the crimes, drugs, greed, and material obsession of modern religious leaders. Unlike the past when religion maintained social order and stability, some religious leaders in modern society are actively involved in crime or material greed. The hypocrisy of these corrupted religious leaders is undermining traditional religious values and eroding faith. This is because the corruption of religion can lead to a desperate environmental and serious social problems. This movie shows that modern religions must recognize the urgent crisis of losing their function and make efforts to restore the essential value of religion.
