<당시(唐詩)를 위한 아카펠라>는 중국 현대 작곡가 장첸이 (张千一)가 당나라 고전 시가를 가사 소재로 채택하여 작곡한 무반주 합창(이하 ‘아카펠라’) 모음곡이다. 본 연구는 이 작품을 대상으로 음악적 구조 및 선율적 특징, 화성 어법, 리듬 등 음 악 언어적 측면과 더불어, 전통 시가와 현대 합창 창작 간의 예술적 접목 방식을 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 작품이 어떻게 중 국적 미학과 서양 합창 기법을 융합하여 독창적인 예술적 성취 를 이루었는지를 탐구하였다. 연구 결과, 장첸이는 오음음계를 기반으로 한 선율 구성과 중국어의 성조 억양을 반영하여 음악과 시적 정서의 일치를 도 모하였다. 화성 구성에서는 조성적 모호성, 색채적 화성, 전통 적인 성부 교차 기법을 활용함으로써 합창 음향의 입체성과 표 현력을 강화하였다. 또한 음악적 텍스처(texture)에서는 다성부 음악, 병행 진행, 모방 등을 유연하게 배치하여 다층적 성부 관 계와 풍부한 음향적 공간을 창출하였다. 리듬 처리에 있어서는 중국어 특유의 언어적 리듬감과 음악적 리듬을 통합하여 작품 의 생동감과 언어성을 부각시켰다. 나아가 본 연구는 장첸이가 당대 고전 시를 현대 합창 음악 의 언어로 재해석함으로써, 전통 문화의 현대적 계승과 예술적 변용을 시도한 과정을 밝히는 데 의의가 있다. 이러한 분석은 동시대 합창 창작 및 해석에 유의미한 참고 자료로서, 중국 합 창음악의 발전 방향과 전통-현대의 융합 가능성에 대한 학문적 논의를 확장시키는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

A Cappella for Tang Poetry is a suite of unaccompanied choral works composed by the contemporary Chinese composer Zhang Qianyi, who adopted classical Tang dynasty poetry as the textual foundation. This study examines the work from the perspectives of musical structure, melodic characteristics, harmonic language, and rhythm, while also considering the artistic integration between traditional poetry and contemporary choral composition. In doing so, it explores how the piece fuses Chinese aesthetics with Western choral techniques to achieve a distinctive artistic accomplishment. The findings reveal that Zhang Qianyi constructs melodies based on the pentatonic scale and incorporates the tonal inflections of the Chinese language to enhance the alignment between music and poetic sentiment. In terms of harmonic writing, he employs tonal ambiguity, coloristic harmonies, and traditional voice-crossing techniques to enrich the dimensionality and expressive power of the choral sound. The musical texture is shaped through the flexible use of polyphony, parallel motion, and imitation, thereby creating multilayered voice relationships and a resonant sonic space. In rhythm, Zhang integrates the linguistic rhythm of Chinese with musical rhythm, highlighting both the vitality and the linguistic character of the a cappella writing. Furthermore, this study underscores the significance of Zhang’s reinterpretation of classical Tang poetry through the medium of contemporary choral music, revealing a process of cultural inheritance and artistic transformation. Such analysis not only serves as a valuable reference for contemporary choral composition and interpretation but also contributes to expanding scholarly discourse on the integration of tradition and modernity in Chinese choral music.
