본 연구는 클래식 음악이 현대 대중음악, 특히 K-POP에서 어떠한 방식으로 활용되고 있으며 이 러한 활용이 음악적 차원에서 어떤 의미를 갖는지 규명하는 목적이 있다. K-POP은 세계적 확산 속에서 장르적 정체성을 다양화해 왔으며, 그 과정에서 클래식 음악은 구조적 안정성과 예술적 깊이를 제공하는 핵심 자원으로 활용되었다. 연구의 의미는 클래식과 대중음악이라는 서로 다른 음악 전통이 K-POP이라는 장르 내에서 어떻게 융합되고 새로운 미학을 형성하는지를 밝힘으로써, 장르 경계의 재구성과 현대 음악 생산 방식의 변화를 설명하는 데 있다. 연구는 클래식 음악 활용 방식을 샘플링, 전사, 개작의 세 범주로 나누어 분석하였다. 샘플링은 원곡의 음원 또는 편곡을 직접적으로 차용하는 방식으로, 곡의 정체성과 드라마틱한 분위기를 강화한다. 전사는 동일한 선 율을 새로운 악기 편성이나 전자음향으로 재배치해 원곡의 특징을 현대적 감각으로 재해석한다. 개작은 클래식 음악의 모티브나 구조를 변형해 완전히 새로운 창작물로 확장하는 방식으로, 최근 K-POP에서 가장 활발히 활용되는 특징을 보였다. 분석 결과, 클래식 음악의 이 세 가지 활용 방식 은 K-POP의 서사적 몰입도, 음악적 완성도, 콘셉트 구축에 결정적 기여를 하며 장르적 독창성을 강화하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 클래식 음악의 인용, 전사, 개작이 K-POP의 창 의적 발전을 이끄는 주요한 요소로써 향후 장르 융합 연구의 자료로 의미가 있다.

This study aims to examine how classical music is utilized in contemporary popular music, particularly in K-POP, and to identify the musical significance of such practices. As K-POP has diversified its genre identity amid global expansion, classical music has served as a crucial resource that provides structural stability and artistic depth. The significance of this research lies in elucidating how the traditions of classical and popular music converge within the K-POP genre to form new musical aesthetics, thereby explaining the reconfiguration of genre boundaries and the evolving modes of contemporary music production. The study categorizes the utilization of classical music in K-POP into three approaches: sampling, transcription, and paraphrase. Sampling involves directly incorporating the original audio or orchestration, enhancing the song’s identity and dramatic quality. Transcription reorganizes an existing melody through new instrumentation or electronic sound design, offering a modern reinterpretation of the original. Paraphrase transforms classical motifs or structures into newly developed creative works and represents the most actively employed approach in recent K-POP production. The analysis reveals that these three modes of classical music adaptation significantly contribute to K-POP’s narrative immersion, musical completeness, and conceptual construction, ultimately reinforcing its genre-specific uniqueness. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the sampling, transcription, and paraphrase of classical music function as key drivers of creative development in K-POP and serve as valuable resources for future research on genre convergence.
