본 연구는 한국 전통 활터음악 ‘획창(劃唱)’을 중심으로, 그 예악적 가 치와 문화콘텐츠적 확장 가능성을 탐색하였다. 연구는 문헌고찰과 현장 조사를 병행하여 현대 문화산업 속에서의 활용 가능성을 다각적으로 분 석하였다. 연구 결과, 획창이 단순한 민속음악이 아니라 의례적 연행과 음악, 무예가 융합된 전통예악의 원형임을 확인하였다. 또한 획창은 예악 적 문화 정체성의 구현, 복합문화 장르로서의 가능성, 공연콘텐츠로서의 활용성, 무형유산의 디지털 산업화라는 네 가지 측면에서 현대 문화콘텐 츠로의 확장 가능성을 지닌다. 결국 획창은 전통의 단순 재현이 아닌 예 악정신의 현대적 전유를 통해 새롭게 생명력을 얻을 수 있는 문화예술 자원이다. 소리와 몸짓, 예와 흥이 결합된 이 예술은 전통과 기술, 교육 과 산업을 연결하는 다리로서, 한국 무형유산의 미래적 활용 모델을 제 시한다는 점에서 그 의의가 크다.

This paper investigates the traditional Korean archery-ground music ‘Hoekchang’with a focus on its ritualistic and aesthetic dimensions and its potential as a modern cultural content. Drawing upon both literature review and field studies, the research examines how ‘Hoekchang’ functions as an archetype of ‘Yeak’—a synthesis of ritual, music, and martial discipline— rather than a mere form of folk music. The study identifies four key areas in which ‘Hoekchang’ can be recontextualized: as an embodiment of ‘Yeak’-oriented cultural identity, as a hybrid genre, as a performative content adaptable to diverse media, and as a digitally industrialized form of intangible heritage. Ultimately, ‘Hoekchang’ emerges as a dynamic cultural resource that gains renewed vitality through the modern appropriation of ‘Yeak’ philosophy. Integrating sound and movement, ritual and delight, this art form exemplifies how traditional aesthetics can inform the creative industries and the sustainable future of Korea’s intangible cultural heritage.
