With the continuous development of popular music, it has become an important part of social and cultural life. Many colleges and universities at home and abroad have carried out talent training for popular music related majors. Academia and industry have also done a lot of research work on popular music related issues. Because of the times, it is imperative to put forward and establish popular musicology. This paper discusses the setting of popular musicology and related issues from three aspects: the background and reasons of popular musicology, the institutional basis for the setting of popular musicology, and the theoretical proof of the setting of popular musicology. In addition, some orientations of the subordinates of popular musicology are put forward.

随着流行音乐的不断发展, 其已经成为社会文化生活中的重要组成部分。国内外诸多 高校纷纷开展了流行音乐相关专业的人才培养工作, 学界与业界也对流行音乐相关问题 进行了大量的研究工作。时代使然, 流行音乐学的提出与设立势在必行。本文从流行音 乐学学科提出的背景与缘由、流行音乐学设置的制度依据、流行音乐学设置的学理论 证这三个方面对流行音乐学的设置及相关问题进行论述。另外, 提出了流行音乐学 下属的若干方向设置。
