본 논의는 10월 부마항쟁을 지역적 차원에 국한하지 않고 전국적인 항 쟁으로 승화시켜야 한다는 문제의식에서 출발한다. 특히 박정희 대통령의 사망이 10월 부마항쟁의 결과적 산물임을 고려할 때, 이 항쟁에 대한 고 찰 없이 10·26 사건을 온전히 다루는 것은 불가능하다. 이에 본 연구는 김영삼 의원 제명 파동과 10·26 사건을 부마항쟁과 유기적으로 연계하여 고찰하고자 한다. 이를 위해 촉발 요인, 과정 요인, 결과 요인 등의 전제 를 설정하여 논지를 증명하는 방식을 취하였다. 이에 따라 항쟁의 원인과 결과, 그리고 향후 과제들을 중심으로 내용을 전개한다. 연구 결과는 다 음과 같다. 첫째, 1979년 10월에 발생한 일련의 정치적 사건 맥락에 비 추어 볼 때, 이는 ‘10월 부마항쟁’ 혹은 ‘10월 항쟁’으로 명명되어야 한 다. 둘째, 부마항쟁의 전국화 및 세계화라는 가치를 새롭게 정립해야 한 다. 셋째, 항쟁을 특정 지역의 문제나 김영삼 의원 개인과의 관계로만 한 정하여 거론하는 것은 지양해야 한다. 넷째, 그동안 왜곡되었던 10·18 마 산항쟁의 전개 과정을 올바르게 바로잡아야 한다. 요컨대 10월 부마항쟁 은 이후 5·18 민주화운동과 6월 항쟁의 도화선이 되었다는 점에서 한국 민주주의 발전의 초석이라 평가할 수 있다.

This discussion begins with the awareness that the October Buma Uprising should be sublimated into a national Uprising, not limited to the regional level. Therefore, this study attempts to examine the waves of expulsion of Representative Kim Young-sam and the October 26 incident in organic connection with the Buma Uprising. To this end, a method of proving the thesis was taken by setting the premise of triggering factors, process factors, and outcome factors. Accordingly, the contents will be developed focusing on the causes and effects of the uprising, and future tasks. The research results are as follows. First, it should be named the 'October Buma Uprising' or the 'October Uprising' in the context of a series of political events that occurred in October 1979. Second, the value of nationalization and globalization of the Buma Uprising must be newly established. Third, it should be avoided to discuss the dispute only by limiting it to specific regional issues or relationships with Representative Kim Young-sam's individual relationship. Fourth, it is necessary to correct the development process of the October 18 Masan Uprising that has been distorted so far. In short, the October Buma Uprising can be evaluated as the cornerstone of the development of Korean democracy in that it became the trigger for the May 18 Democratic Movement and the June Uprising.
