본 연구는 드라마 담화에 나타난 중국어 공손 화행을 대상으로 언어 표현과 함께 동반되는 비언어 표현의 양상을 분석하였다. 손동작 제스처, 표정, 시선, 자세(몸짓) 등의 시각적 요소를 포함하여 총 48개 사례를 분석한 결과, 공손 표현은 다양한 비 언어 표현과 결합된 수행 양상으로 나타났다. 화행 유형과 상호관계 유형에 따라 동 반되는 비언어 표현에는 차이가 있었으며, 일부 장면에서는 중국 문화권의 상징적 의미를 지닌 표현도 관찰되었다. 이는 중국어 공손 표현이 상호작용 맥락 속에서 언 어–비언어 결합 구조로 실현됨을 보여준다.

This study examines Chinese politeness speech acts in drama discourse, focusing on patterns of nonverbal expressions accompanying verbal expressions. While previous research has mainly emphasized linguistic forms, this study incorporates visually observable elements such as hand gestures, facial expressions, gaze, posture, and object-mediated actions. A total of 48 instances of politeness speech acts were analyzed. The results show that politeness expressions are not realized through verbal elements alone but are accompanied by various nonverbal behaviors. Quantitative analysis indicates that different speech act types tend to co-occur with distinct nonverbal expressions, such as forward-leaning posture in apologies, clasped-hands gestures in requests, two-handed object transfer in gratitude, handshakes and business card exchanges in first-encounter greetings, restraining gestures in leave-taking, and applause or thumbs-up gestures in congratulatory or encouraging situations. Qualitative analysis further reveals that these patterns are closely related to interactional contexts and interpersonal relationship types, including hierarchical, peer, stranger, business, and service interactions. Culturally shared symbolic nonverbal expressions were also observed. These findings suggest that Chinese politeness expressions extend beyond linguistic forms and systematically integrate nonverbal resources in interaction. This study highlights the importance of incorporating naturally occurring discourse and vocal features in future research.
