Clinical and Histopathological Progression of Oral Epithelial Dysplasia to Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report
Oral Epithelial Dysplasia (OED) is an oral potentially malignant disorder that can progress to Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC).
Although higher grades of OED are associated with an increased malignant transformation rate, malignant transformation can occur at
any time even in lower-grade dysplasia due to genetic mutations or microenvironmental changes, making reliance on a single biopsy
risky. This report describes the clinical and histopathological changes observed during the progression of a lesion initially diagnosed
as OED to OSCC, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and continuous follow-up.
