이 연구의 목적은 광주광역시의 이주민 의료통번역활동가 양성 과정과 의료통번역활동가의 활동 경험을 살펴보고, 이주민 의료통번역활동가의 활성화 방안을 제시하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 이주민 의료통번역활동가를 대상으로 초점집단면접을 실시했다. 연구의 주요 결 과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 이주민 의료통번역활동가는 한국어 의사소 통의 어려움을 겪고 있는 동료 이주민을 지원하기 위해 양성과정에 참여 했다. 이주민 의료통번역활동가가 경험한 의료통역 활동의 어려움은 병 원의 복잡한 절차, 통역비 지급 문제, 일상적인 통번역 매칭의 어려움이 있었다. 이주민 의료통번역활동가의 전문성과 역량 강화를 위한 교육 프 로그램과 지속적인 자기계발이 요구된다. 한편, 이주민 의료통번역활동가 의 통번역 활성화를 위해 한국어 의사소통 능력 향상과 전문적인 의학용 어의 정확한 이해도를 높여나가야 한다. 지역 내 대학병원과 보건소 등 보건의료기관, 이주민 지원 기관 및 단체 등과 연계·협력하여 이주민 공 공의료통역 네트워크를 구축함으로써 이주민 건강권 증진과 공공성을 강 화해나가야 한다. 마지막으로, 타지역의 이주민 의료통번역 지원 사업을 대상으로 비교 연구와 함께 이주민 의료통역서비스 당사자를 대상으로 한 만족도 조사를 진행할 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the training process for migrant medical interpreters and translators in Gwangju Metropolitan City, their activity experiences, and measures for their revitalization. The method of this study involved conducting focus group interviews with migrant medical interpreters. The main research results are as follows. Immigrant medical interpreters participated in training programs to support fellow immigrants facing difficulties communicating in Korean. Educational programs to enhance the professionalism and capabilities of immigrant medical interpreters, as well as continuous efforts for self-development, are required. Meanwhile, to promote interpretation and translation activities among migrant medical interpreters and translators, it is necessary to improve their Korean communication skills and enhance their accurate understanding of specialized medical terminology. we must promote the health rights of immigrants by establishing a public medical interpretation network in cooperation with local health institutions and migrant support organizations.
