본고는 과학적 방법론은 국제관계 제 문제들을 설명하며 현재성을 일반화하는 과정에서 드러나고 있는 여러 한계들에 대한 문제의식에서 시작된다. 특히, 본고는 국제관계학 연구에 있어 국제관계 사건으로서의 역사에 대한 실증적 접근이 갖는 한계에 주목했다. 그리고 이 과정에서 사건이 역사적 내용(context)으로부터 괴리되어 그것들이 실증적 수단화되는 것에 대한 한계를 확인하고, 국제관계학 이론의 ‘역사적 용법’의 가능성을 가늠한데 그 목적을 두고 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 실증적 국제관계학사에서 벗어난 탈국제관계사를 위한 국제관계학의 역사사회학적 접근을 검토해 보며 탈구조주의의 방법론적 기초를 제시해 보았다. 이를 위해 국제관계학의 역사적으로 구성된 국가 간 관계를 살펴보며 역사적으로 구성된 국제관계학을 살펴보는 한편, 국제관계학의 역사적 용법으로서의 국제관계학과 역사사회학 간 학제간 소통에 주목하며 살펴봤다.

This article begins with a problem about the various limitations which are emerging in the process of generalizing presence and explains the issues of scientific approaches in international relations. Particularly, this article focuses on the limitations of empirical approaches on history as international affairs in international relations. Also, in this process, the purpose of this study is to confirm the limitations of separated events from the historical context and to looks at the possibility of ‘historical use’ of international relation theories. For this purpose, this article reviews sociohistorical approach of international relations deviated from empirical international relation studies and suggests the post-structuralist methodological basis. This article looks at historically constructed international relations, while analyzing inter-disciplinary communication between Weberian historical sociology, Foucault’s historical sociology, and international relation as historical usage. Among these, from the perspective of Foucault tradition, namely discourse analysis and genealogy, the significance of the critically reinterpreting historical research itself was noted in this article.
