본 연구는 동아시아 현대 피아노 작품에 관한 기초 연구로서, 한국과 중국을 대표하는 작곡가인 윤이상과 탄둔의 피아노 작품을 연구 대상으 로 삼았다. 형식, 음소재 및 음 구조법, 선율, 리듬, 화성의 다섯 가지 요 소를 중심으로 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 두 작곡가의 피아노 작품에서 드러나는 서양음악의 작곡 기법과 전통음악의 표현 양상을 비교·고찰하 는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 두 작곡가는 모두 동양적 정취 를 피아노 작품에 반영하고 있으나, 서양 작곡 어법과 전통음악의 변용 방식에서는 차이를 보였다. 윤이상은 서양 현대음악의 구조적 사고를 바 탕으로 동양적 음악 미학과 전통음악의 원리를 작곡 언어 내부에 내재화 한 반면, 탄둔은 서양 고전음악의 형식적 기반 위에 현대음악 요소와 중 국 전통음악 요소를 병렬적으로 배치하여 동서양 음악 요소의 공존을 구 현하였다. 향후에는 이를 바탕으로 한국, 중국, 일본의 현대 피아노 작품 으로 연구 범위가 더욱 확장되고, 다양한 작곡가와 작품 사례에 대한 심 층적 분석이 이루어짐으로써 동아시아 현대 피아노 작품이 지닌 음악적 다양성과 예술적 가능성을 보다 폭넓게 탐색할 수 있을 것으로 기대된 다.

This study focuses on modern piano works composed by Isang Yun and Tan Dun, two representative composers from South Korea and China, respectively. The musical analysis focuses on form, pitch, material and organization, melody, as well as rhythm and harmony. On this basis, this study compares the integration of Western compositional techniques and East Asian musical elements in the piano works of these two composers. Although both composers reflect Eastern sensibilities in their piano works, they differ in their use of traditional materials. Isang Yun integrates tradition into the inner structure of his works through modernist techniques, while Tan Dun employs pentatonic scales, folk-like melodies, and regional theatrical elements more directly within his own compositional language. At the same time, he does not leave classical norms behind. Instead, he places them alongside modern compositional procedures. It is hoped that this study may serve as a starting point for future studies on modern piano works from Korea, China, and Japan, exploring their diversity and possibilities through broader case studies.
