An Empirical Study on the School Violence Safety Consciousness of Adolescents : Focusing on the Victimization Experience
This study analyzed the levels and influential factors of school violence safety consciousness among middle and high school students by applying the SHELL model. In the process, a comparative analysis was conducted by dividing the subjects into groups based on their experience of school violence victimization. This study results are as follows; First, the group without experience of school violence victimization showed a significantly higher level of safety consciousness than the group with such experience. Second, the group without victimization experience showed significantly higher levels in the Hardware, Environment, and Liveware1 components of the SHELL model. Third, the factors influencing safety consciousness found to differ slightly between the groups depending on their victimization experience. This study is significant in that it provides the necessary evidence to create a safe and healthy educational environment by supplementing the deficiencies in laws and systems for the eradication of school violence based on empirical research results.
