A Study on the Global Transfer and Format Adaptation of the K-Pop Production System - Focusing on the Production Cases of NiziU and KATSEYE -
This study examines how the K-Pop production system is maintained and adapted in overseas projects through the cases of NiziU and KATSEYE. The system was analyzed across five stages: planning, casting, training and evaluation, producing, and promotion and management, using Moran’s language, intertextual, and cultural codes. Both cases retained joint planning with overseas partners, participant casting, repeated training and evaluation, group-oriented producing, and pre-debut fandom formation. However, language use, content formats, platform participation, and cultural meanings were reorganized according to each project’s goals and environment. These findings show that the overseas transfer of the K-Pop production system is not a simple replication, but a process of format adaptation that maintains core principles while selectively adapting their implementation.
