본고에서는 方方의 軟埋를 개명 모티프에 주목하여 여성 주체가 처한 언어적 조 건이라는 측면에서 규명한다. 주인공은 실어와 기억상실 상태로 다른 이름으로 삼십 여 년을 살아가며 아들의 조사를 통해서 결국 옛 이름으로 다시 호명된다. 여기서 이 두 차례의 호명을 대칭적인 이중 구조로 파악하고 첫 번째 호명은 여성이 행위자 의 자리에서 밀려나는 사건으로, 두 번째 호명은 신원은 복원하되 언어적 주체성은 복원하지 못하는 사건으로 분석한다. 새 이름으로 산 세월은 침묵이 사회적으로 안 정된 삶의 형태로 승인되는 역설적 시기로 읽히며 아들의 탐색은 이름의 복원과 언 어의 복원 사이의 간극을 드러낸다. 재구성된 기억의 소유권이 당사자가 아닌 남성 후손에게 귀속된다는 점은 선의의 탐색 안에서도 호명의 이중 구조가 침묵의 지속으 로 이어질 수 있음을 보여준다.

This paper examines Fang Fang’s Soft Burial(軟埋), focusing on the motif of renaming to illuminate the linguistic condition faced by the female subject. The protagonist lives for some thirty years under a different name in a state of aphasia and amnesia, and is ultimately recalled to her original name only through her son’s investigation. This paper treats these two acts of naming as a symmetrical dual structure: the first as an event in which the woman is displaced from the position of agent, and the second as one that restores her identity but not her linguistic subjectivity. The years lived under her new name are read as a paradoxical period in which silence is sanctioned as a stable form of life, since the new name shields her from the violence of the past while foreclosing any possibility of speaking it. The son’s investigation, in turn, exposes the gap between the restoration of a name and the restoration of language: the name returns to her, but the capacity to narrate her own experience does not. The fact that ownership of the reconstructed memory belongs not to the protagonist herself but to her male descendant demonstrates that the dual structure of interpellation can lead to the persistence of silence even within a well-intentioned search. The paper thereby argues that recovering a woman’s history through another’s inquiry may reproduce, rather than overcome, the conditions under which she was rendered unable to speak.
