The new type of comprehensive Life Encyclopaedia that appeared in the Ming Wanli years were close to the folks and life, and the enthusiastic publishing lasted for two to three hundred years and preserved the first-hand information on social life at that time. owadays, such books are scattered all over the world, and it is particularly inconvenient to search for them. Therefore, the academic circle lacks research results on the overall investigation of their origin and evolution, which causes some difficulties for researchers to use such literature.By systematically combing the editions of Life Encyclopaedia in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this paper investigates the different development characteristics and content changes of Life Encyclopaedia in different time periods, and reveals that after the late Ming Dynasty, Life Encyclopaedia gradually form a unified form from the initial diversified editions. In order to control the cost and increase the sales volume, the volume of such books is decreasing gradually.In terms of content, the Life Encyclopaedia use has been constantly changing its specific content according to the changes of times and needs, and in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Republic of China, the content of the book was revised three times.
