        Multi-walled carbon nanotube-poly methyl methacrylate (MWNT/PMMA) nanocomposite has been prepared by in situ polymerization of MMA dispersed with MWNTs. The MWNTs were functionalized by nitric acid and sulfuric acid treatment, and this was confirmed by FTIR spectrometer. The solution mixture of MWNTs and MMA was partially polymerized at 80℃, followed by the addition of AIBN and polymerization at 50℃. The MWNT-PMMA composite was prepared by casting the pre-polymer on the glass plate, and the optical properties have been studied using UV-vis spectrometer. The acid treated MWNTs were well dispersed in MMA with fairly good dispersion stability, while flocculation and sedimentation was observed from raw MWNTs in MMA.

        The H2S 22,0 - 21,1 line emission is observed to be strongly localized toward Sgr B2(M), and emissions from other positions in the more extended SgrB2 region are almost negligible. H2S is thought to form effectively by the passage of the C-type shocks but to be quickly transformed to SO2 or other sulfur species (Pineau des Forets et al. 1993). Such a shock may have enhanced the H2S abundance in Sgr B2(M), where massive star formation is taking place. But the negligible emission of H2S from other observed positions may indicate that these positions have not been affected by shocks enough to produce H2S, or if they have experienced shocks, H2S may have transformed already to other sulfur-containing species. The SO2 222,20 - 221,21 line was also observed to be detectable only toward the (M) position. The line intensity ratios of these two molecules appear to be very similar at Sgr B2(M) and IRAS 16239-2422, where the latter is a region of low-mass star formation. This may suggest that the shock environment in these two star-forming regions is similar and that the shock chemistry also proceeds in a similar fashion in these two different regions, if we accept shock formation of these two species.

        본 연구는 319두의 서로 다른 품종에서 PSE육을 생산하는 PSS 돼지 출현빈도를 조사하였다(Yorkshire 150; Landrace 89 and Duroc 80). PCR-RFLP법을 이용하여 돼지의 모근을 DNA sample로 사용하여, PCR로 증폭된 유전자는 Cfo I 제한 효소로 절단하여 종돈에 존재하는 ryanodine receptor (RYR 1) 돌연변이 유전자의 출현빈도를 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 모근에서 추출한 DNA를 주형으로 한 Primary PCR을 수행한 결과 ryanodine receptor 유전자 중 659bp의 증폭산물을 얻었으며, second PCR을 수행한 결과에서는 522 bp의 증폭산물을 얻었다. 이 증폭산물은 porcine ryanodine receptor 유전자의 exon 영역 중 PSS를 유발하는 point mutation(C→T; Arg→Cys) 부분을 포함하고 있으므로 Cfo I 제한효소에 의해 분석될 수 있으며, agarose gel 전기영동에 의하여 세 가지의 유전자형으로 분류할 수 있다. 정상 homotype(NN)은 두 개의 DNA band(439, 83bp)로 나타나며, 열성 homotype(nn)은 552 bp의 단일 밴드로 출현한다. 그리고 세 개의 밴드(522, 439 그리고, 83 bp)는 heterotype(Nn)의 잠재성 돼지로 표현된다. Yorkshire종에서는 정상돼지가 98.00%로 나타났으며, hetero 돼지는 2.00% 그리고, PSS돼지는 출현하지 않았다. Landrace 돼지에서는 정상돼지가 87.64%로 나타났으며, hetero 돼지와 PSS패지가 각각 11.24와 1.12%로 나타났으나, Duroc종에서는 정장돼지(NN)만이 출현하였다. 대립 유전자 빈도는 Yorkshire종은 정상 N유전자가 0.990의 비율로 나타났으며, 열성 n 유전자는 0.010의 비율로 출현하였으며, Landrace종에서는 N유전자와 n유전자가 각각 0.933과 0.067의 빈도로 출현하였으며, Duroc종에서는 N 유전자의 빈도가 1.000의 빈도로 나타났으나, n유전자의 빈도는 0.000의 빈도로 나타났다. 3품종 집단 모두에서 Hardy-Weinberg 법칙과 일치하여 유전적 평형을 이루고 있었다.

        Using a developed high-frequency induction heated combustion method. the simultaneous synthesis and densification of WC-xvol.%Co() hard materials was accomplished using elemental powders of W, C and Co. A complete synthesis and densification of the materials was achieved in one step within a duration of 1min. The final relative densities of the composite were over 98.5% for all cases, under the applied pressure of 60 MPa and the induced current. The hardness of the composites decreases and the fracture toughness increases with increasing cobalt content. As the carbon to tungsten ration increases, the hardness increase, but the fracture toughness decreases. The maximum values for the fracture toughness and hardness are 15.1 (at 20vol.%Co, W:C=1:1), and 1928 (at 5vol.%Co, W:C=1:1.3), respectively. Therefore we concluded that the HFIHCS method. which can produce WC-xvol.%Co within 1 minute in one step is superior to conventional ones.

        1) Using a developed high-frequency induction heated sintering method, the rapid densification of WC-Co hard materials was accomplished using ultra fine powders with 260 nm size within 1 minute. 2) The relative density of the composite was 99.5% for the applide pressure of 60MPa and the induced current for 90% output of total capacity. 3) The grain size of WC-Co hard materials is about 260nm and the average thickness of the binder phase determined is about 11nm. The fracture toughness and the hardness of this work 12 , respectively. 4) Using pressureless sintering, we produced dense WC-Co hard materials with a relative density of 97% without applying pressure.

        Recently, we have set up a new digital CCD camera system, MicroMax YHS-1300 manufactured by Roper Scientific for Hα observation by Solar Flare Telescope at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory. It has a 12 bit dynamic range, a pixel number of 1300×1030, a thermoelectric cooler, and an electric shutter. Its readout speed is about 3 frames per second and the dark current is about 0.05 e-/p/s at -10°. We have made a system performance test by confirming the system linearity, system gain, and system noise that its specification requires. We have also developed a data acquisition software which connects a digital camera con-troller to a PC and acquires Hα images via Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 under Windows 98. Comparisons of high quality Hα images of AR 9169 and AR 9283 obtained from SOFT with the corresponding images from Learmonth Solar Observatory in Australia confirm that our Hα digital observational system is performed properly. Finally, we present a set of Hα images taken from a two ribbon flare occurred in AR 9283.
